turftoe
When I watch Bradham he always seems to show up near the action at the end of the play but never seems to be the guy actually making the play. The first guy to give a high five. Â If you should still have any preseason footage on DVR, I encourage you to review the first quarter of it. Bradham was borderline dominant this preseason, and was in on many more plays than I had ever seen from him in years past. Â I think the bell has finally gone off for him at this level, and I predict he will be the guy who leads us in tackles most games.
Kelly the Dog
Good decision, if yesterday is an indication Gay can help the team. Gay Schmidt was terrific yesterday. I couldn't believe they kept Moorman for so long but ultimately they signed Schmidt before the season started, he played in the first game, and was a real factor. Gay, too. He got great height on his kickoffs that went deep, which is tough to do both. Â Good job, Mr. Whaley.

When I watch Bradham he always seems to show up near the action at the end of the play but never seems to be the guy actually making the play. The first guy to give a high five. See above. I wasn't going to comment on because I thought 2013 was going to be his season. He really showed some signs of brilliance in 2013 preseason. Than got 1 snap in the opener. He didn't really pull it all together and I can't really say why which is the reason I have been mum on saying much about him. Â He fit the role of SLB better than I thought. He seemed more of a Jack coming out of college and I was worried he didn't have strong play to fill any specific role good enough. I had believed he would end up being a ST type of player but he just wasn't that fast. He is fast but he is not FAST. He does not get to where he needs to be and it is not strictly because of recognition - I do not know what it was. Â I am happy he is on the team and excited for what he will do, though. Augie
I'd cut Brown some slack, classic over pursue- probably too geeked up. Did Lawson play ? Lawson did play, and I agree on cutting Brown some slack after one NFL game. Geez! Yes, he made some mistakes. He also got all over that fumble and moved it up field. It's debatable as to whether that's even his natural position. I'm glad Nigel is back, and not just because I don't know of any other Nigel's playing football of the American variety. I saw him a lot at FSU and really enjoyed it. Â EDIT: The first time I typed this I left out the words "some slack". That would change things completely! Oops. swnybillsfan
i am looking forward to having bradham back in the line up. i think he will help this defense. i wasn't keeping a real close eye on preston brown, but it seems like he did ok. room to grow for sure, but i don't think the plan was to throw him directly into the fire. TXBILLSFAN
Bradham will certainly be an upgrade over Brown, but with Rivers injury, we might have to have more growing pains next week. Â Schmidt had a good game, nice pickup. Â I didn't like that they kept Gay. Having 2 kickers is a luxury Bills can't afford with their roster, they should've kept Smith or signed another LB. BTW, as point of reference, Bills are the ONLY NFL team with 2 kickers. Â Â

K-9
I'm willing to cut P Brown some slack, but at this stage of his career, I would have expected him to be well-versed in the fundamentals of tackling. HankBulloughMellencamp
he is a good an incredible fit for Schwartz D (fixed) Â The thing that has me excited is that he has been the leader of a defense at a high level before, making calls, leading the team in tackles, etc. Â It's one thing to hope to develop into someone who can do that, but it's quite another to have experience and a knack for being able to do it. The classic "I think I can, I think I can" choo-choo candidate versus the guy with the solid credentials. Â So we've got that going for us, which is nice. ganesh
Preston Brown looked bad to me. Slipping, falling, out of position. Welcome back Nigel. Nigel was the weakest link on that front seven last year. While he had a good TC, the pre-season games did not show anything to me. Since Rivers, Spikes and Brown played well last sunday, I don't see any reason to send Brown back to the bench. I think Nigel should be the one on the bench,
