I think it's disrespectful to put dixon in at QB now...

thought that as well. he came in to take 2 knees.

did anyone see rivera apologizing to marrone at the end? marrone looks like he said something like "that doesnt matter!" i bet rivera said he was sorry for trying the onside kick.

ej looked pretty good tonight.

for those of you who watched on nfl.com through their preseason package--did you get the carolina feed like i did? and if so, do you think they spent WAAAAAAAY too much time talking about how nice of a guy cam is, and how he's all smiles on the sideline, and how he cheers on his team mates so well? talk about being a mouthpiece for the team! i can remember 2 years ago, the knock on cam was he was "sullen" and would "sulk about" on the sidelines. it's as if the panthers management had a meeting and said "this is our qb for the next 10 years, this is the face of our franchise. every game, once a quarter, talk about how happy he looks."

I've lost my feed so I don't know how late it is, but I get the point. I thought very highly of him after college and the knee recovery. Guess I was wrong again.

I don't think that's far off from how it actually works.

How much longer do we have to put up with Crossman?

Probably stuck for the season, unless it quickly gets any more obvious what a problem this is. By that, I mean we have to lose like 2 out of a 3 or 4 game stretch on atrocious break downs, which is entirely possible. Yippee, we got rid of the worst coach in the NFL, but it cost the season. Love Whaley, cautious on Marrone, but last season's ST was horrendous!

very much like whaley, very happy with schwartz thus far, cautious on marrone, not optimistic about hackett, hate crossman. please don't keep a kickoff specialist with our lack of depth all over the roster and the rash of injuries we seem to incur each year

Did Robey muff a punt tonight? I see he has a fumble in the box score. This was an issue for him last year as well.

Indeed he did but I don't remember him ever muffing a punt or fumbling last year.

I was surprised Crossman didn't get the axe last year but understood he'd get a another chance because of Marrone's faith in him. Plus Marrone appeared to genuinely believe they didn't keep enough ST type players on the roster.

They changed it this year and last night we saw the results: they did a great job on punt coverage - I think Carolina only gained a couple of yards - and only gave up about 20 yds per KO return. Those are good numbers and substantially better than last year's so I'm okay with Crossman and don't understand why you wouldn't be also.

Or do you believe that Naaman "Camp Fodder" Roosevelt's muffed onsides kick undid all the things ST did well last night?

3rd and short is often 3rd and fail. Amazing that we can't covert those with any consistency.

Indeed. And again, I have to fault the O-line. In the recap, Chris Williams was the reason why Freddie got stuffed on the Goal-line. That right now, more than anything, is what makes me worry.

More good vines to watch-

@ChrisTrapasso: Just a check down, but those have value. EJ saw Woods (1st read) being held. Moved to CJ. Threw accurate pass. https://t.co/FeUOjOPB1c

@ChrisTrapasso: Seantrel Henderson wasn't as good vs Panthers/Greg Hardy as he was vs Giants/JPP. Beat outside a few times. https://t.co/ybmbeySWo9

@ChrisTrapasso: Cyril Richardson had issues locating blitzers/wasn't as good as he was vs NYG either. But both he & Henderson = further along than I thought

@ChrisTrapasso: Cyril Richardson had handful of good snaps, but vet Dwan Edwards gave him trouble. https://t.co/rXgYN4I94K

@ChrisTrapasso: Tweeted this during the game, but #Bills haven't had a WR high-point since Eric Moulds in '05. Seriously. https://t.co/KG7StWML4U

@ChrisTrapasso: Only similar play I can remember is Stevie Johnson's TD in 2011 Week 1 against Chiefs. But he had better position than Mike Williams there.

@ChrisTrapasso: Overall, #Bills improved some tonight. D wasn't as stingy as it was vs. NYG, but stout vs. run/pressured QB. Most importantly, EJ was better

@ChrisTrapasso: Probably a 7. RT @CrawDoggy: Didn't see the game. Rank EJ's performance on a scale of 1-10?

Same thing said about Fluker most of last season Fwiw:

@ChrisTrapasso: Kouandjio so much more comfortable run blocking. Powerful. Just had his best snap of preseason. Pushed rusher inside then found outside guy.

That was Urbik, got off the ball slow and stood up right in the hole.

On the 3rd down play Chandler whiffed while trying to block Hardy.

Someone send this to Jerry Sullivan:

Re-watching #Bills 2nd preseason game, and seeing Marcell Dareus do this in slow-mo is scary. https://vine.co/v/MVwTHDH7XQU

Just Sullivan? What about several posters here? Cut him!

And Hughes got held big time. How the refs missed that is unknown, but I guess that's what pre-season is for.

I was raving about that play. That is just an All Pro play. Period.

And quite scary as well. If this kid EVER decides to make football a #1 priority, watch out. But I still question his maturity level.

GO BILLS!!!

Re-watching the game now, you're right on both counts.

Chandler whiffed awfully and let Hardy tackle Freddie's feet so he could not advance further, really emabarrassing for a professional player, on the next play Urbik is the eligible tackle and got stood up by a DE. If he drives his guy the RB doesn't have to side step and get tackled.

i would have like to see the coaches put the ball on EJ's hands on that red zone series, get the timing with his new WRs down.

I'm assuming (hoping) they don't want to show too much in pre-season. In a real game, I doubt (hope they don't) run twice straight up the gut there.
