Was Drake Maye THAT good yesterday?

Who was criticizing Allen for that? I remember a lot of people thinking he was a knuckle head because he would throw like 2-3 bad interceptions against good/great teams. But I don’t remember anyone saying what you posted being a big deal. But I’m not in Buffalo so..

You scored 23 points, vs a poor defense playing without possibly our best defensive player, in a game where we turned the ball over 3 times, one of which gave you the 12 yards from a TD.  While converting 3/9 3rd downs vs a D that is probably the worst in football in that department over the last 2 seasons.  
 

Diggs was the best player on the field last night.  Much props to him.  I love Drake Maye and I think he’ll be a star.  I thought he played a solid game yesterday, but I was expecting him to play better than he did.

Come on, you gotta give credit where credit is due. He played really well last night. Guys were open but he also made some great throws, especially rolling out to his right. The one throw to Diggs down the sideline near the end zone was a fantastic throw. 
 

no one is putting him in Allen’s level, that’s just hyperbole to get a reaction (which you did so congratulations) or you’re completely mishearing people. No one qualified to talk about football (you know what I mean by that) is putting Maye and Allen on the same level. They might be comparing where Allen was at at the same period that Maye is at now, which is a fair comparison

I think Maye had a really nice second half.  But let's not forget, even Mac Jones as a young guy with New England beat a very good Bills team going 25 for 30, 272 yds, 2 TDs, 0 turnovers.   That Patriots team finished 4-13.

 

Now of course I think Maye will be better than Mac Jones and I really like Vrabel... but let's not crown Maye just yet.  The Bills secondary is really subpar and will make QBs look better than they are.

Cage he was sacked four times, hurried 8-9 times, and picked.  He did play a good game, but not the second coming of Joe Montana.  Josh played sloppy and admitted it after the game.  They are not in the same league.  I know the loss especially to them still stings.  I get it.

When has Josh ever played against a defense that just gave it to him like that? If Josh played against McD's Defensive scheme, he'd put up 40+ by halftime.

They made a series of big boy plays. Maye is no joke. Repeating myself, but will have them hanging in every game.

 

Not sure how much diggs has left, but he was prime diggs last night.

JMO but I think, and have thought since he entered the league that Maye is the real deal. The Pats are the only competition I see in the AFC East for the foreseeable future.

They definitely have their guy for a good while.  I just haven't seen enough to match the hype he's getting.

 

He's top 15, maybe even top 10.  Will he get to top 5?  Hard to predict, but my guess is that he doesn't get to the top tier.

Was he "that good"?  Yes.  Was he great?  No.  But against our defensive effort (& atypical offensive output), he didn't need to be.  He was as good as he needed to be & also had very few poor plays (eluded rushers, found (wide) open receivers for a very high completion %age) & didn't need to do more.

No.  Diggs was that good.  Maye was okay and looked good because of Diggs

He is a good QB. I've said all week he is a good QB. Is he elite? No, thats premature but it's possible if he continues to grow. Yes, he played very well yesterday. Some things were a little lucky. I think he got away with 2 grounding penalties but whatever.

He had zero turnovers to Josh's two.

 

He made several completions when he was dead to rites. Josh had none of note.

 

Sure, he had Diggs to bail him out but Josh had Kincaid almost as often. That's almost a wash.

 

The AFC East challenge flag has now been thrown. I'm not swapping Josh for anyone but the reality is - this guy is legit, he is here to stay and he will become elite in due course. And you can add a tariff to that whenever he comes up against our soft defense.

 

After two decades of TB12, yesterday was a Bills fans worst nightmare.

Far too early to say if he will be a great QB or not. He had terrible coaching last year and is getting good coaching this year. 

 

He certainly has the physical traits you want. Now, it's about reading defenses better and the mental side of things.

Hell, I'd look brilliant at QB if the opposing team lined up 2 DB's TOTAL against my 3 WR's, or I had Diggs 1 on 1 against Bishop, literally playing 14 yards off him at the snap, with no CB anywhere on the same side of the field.  
 

both of those things happened- our D playcalling was something special in that game...
