Was Drake Maye THAT good yesterday?

Obviously, he had a good game.  And the standout "amazing" play was when he was getting dragged down and got it to Diggs.

 

But the hype I've heard today is off the charts.  He had a good half - but I thought his big throws were more a product of our defense faltering in that half.  The receivers were pretty wide open, and we stopped getting good pressure on him.  He didn't throw a TD all night.  

 

I still didn't see "elite" out there, and some are already putting him on Allen's level.  

 

It seems like some analysts and others want him to be that guy more than he actually is that guy.  But we have a proud history of making a lot of QB's look better than they are.

Yes. Yes he was. He was accurate and mobile. And he outplayed Allen. So, yes, I would say he was THAT good. In fact, he's likely to only get better, while the Bills keep rolling out the same team every year.

The Pats did a good job keeping Cook contained. If he isn't having a productive game, then that puts too much pressure on Allen.

He was ok.  6 out of 10.  He left the pocket early and often, missed guys with some throws, and Diggs bailed him out a LOT

 

Diggs was 10/10 last night, Maye was 6/10

Totally agree. Collinsworth was slobbering all over him and it made me wonder if I was watching the same game. Sure, he made some decent plays, but its not like he was going up against the 85 Bears. The Bills just laid an egg yesterday. Tbh, they were begging to get beat the last two games before this too, so its not a one-off. Alarming, to say the least.

He had a good game.  Diggs had a great game.  Pats played with purpose, the Bills sleep walked through it.  Im disgusted by the penalties, it was like a preseason game

He was very good. Not elite. That throw he made to Diggs when it looked like he was going to be sacked was an Allen/Mahomes type throw.

 

He does have the physical traits that many elite QB's have. The question is whether he can put it all together. If he does, he can be a top 5 QB and the Bills are in trouble.

He looked pretty good to me. His season stats are solid. His weapons are decent to goodish. I don't think anyone would say they are great or elite, so that moves him up in my book.

 

Definitely appears he will be a thorn in the Bills' side for years to come. Will he be the thorn that is Jackson or Mahomes, maybe or maybe not, but last night showed his thorn is sharp enough to give the Bills an "L" when the Bills come out with a lackluster performance. They can no longer underestimate the Patriots, not with that QB and HC.

Bro was 13 of 14 for 184 yds in the second half, and 6 for 6 for 90 yds in the fourth Qtr...in a very hostile environment against a supposedly elite NFL team that had a long home winning streak.  I think he passed all tests.  

BUT, it's a week to week league.. and I feel like that will be Diggs' best game of the season.

Exactly 1 player on the Bills is elite, and when he plays pedestrian football, the bills look like a 8-9/9-8 team.

Our secondary was 2/10. Tre in particular was 0/10 so I think that might have helped them along.

I thought Maye was a solid B and made a good number of important plays.  I thought Diggs had an A game. Whatever the Pats did defensively, really gave Joe Brady and company problems.  Maybe someone who knows defense can break down what the Pats did.

I think Maye had a “good” not “great” game. He also got to play against the Bills defense, which is incredibly soft. I wouldn’t say he outplayed Allen (who had to go against the Pats defense which is good).

 

Allen would absolutely torch the Bills defense.

Agreed. Maye made his 17th NFL start yesterday. Lotta room to grow. He didn’t look like all that in the first half, but he was elite in the second. If he can consistently play at that level, then he’s a top tier QB.

He is in his 2nd year and just outplayed arguably the best QB in the league.  He is pretty darn good so far.

No. He was okay. He didn’t have any touchdowns. He had the one good play when he was falling down that was about it. Otherwise he just looked like every other average QB in the NFL.
