After week 1, I let myself believe the Giants might have a chance this game bc a switch to Dart seemed inevitable and who knows what kind of spark that might have given them. Russ's miracle moonballs and almost win against Dallas actually set the franchise back with them sticking with him as starter. It was so frustrating the Chiefs in their current state were ripe for another loss and Daboll just left Russ out there - just drained away any chance to win Edited September 22 by stevewin 2 Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted September 22 Posted September 22 The conservative offensive gameplan last night gave Giants no chance to beat the Chiefs. If Dart gets in and struggles, there’s no reason to keep Daboll around, so it makes sense for Daboll to keep Dart on the bench as long as he can. But Wilson is a completely gutless uninspiring QB right now, so Daboll will probably have to go to Winston to buy more time for Dart. Winston is at least likable and unafraid. Quote
Billsfanatic8989 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 The Giants should have just cleaned house and let the new GM/HC make draft decisions last year. You don't allow guys fighting to save their jobs make those decisions. Let's hope Baltimore loses tonight and one of the Chiefs/Ravens are 1-3 after next week. Unfortunately, my head says Baltimore wins tonight and they probably lose to KC next week. Not because the Chiefs are better. But because, regular or postseason, Reid has simply owned Harbaugh. Mahomes has owned Lamar. 4 hours ago, No_Matter_What said: Where do you see 3? I see Lamar and Mahomes. Hurts is not top 5 imo. He's top 5 for me. Allen Mahomes Lamar Burrow Hurts 1 Quote

There is a significant drop from #4 mind you... but there is this presumption the Eagles don't throw because Hurts isn't good at it. Well 2nd half yesterday against a good defense they put the game on his arm and he delivered. He is also an exceptional leader. I'd take him above everyone except the top four to start a franchise with. 1 Quote

I woke up this AM and the first thing I did was to check if Daboll was fired. QB play was a major issue for the Giants for sure. But their problems were so much deeper than Russel Wilson. That was a very poorly coached/prepared team. 5 minutes ago, Billsfanatic8989 said: The Giants should have just cleaned house and let the new GM/HC make draft decisions last year. It is unfortunate, but unless Dart shows something truly amazing, the Giants seem to be in the running for a top 5 pick this year (based on last night). I let my new staff pick a QB if one is there they like better than Dart. Quote

People don't credit him for his leadership and his ability to cajole his team to victory against odds. In some sense, he is a mini Josh Allen. Quote
Sestak4ever Posted September 22 Posted September 22 To see both Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers just ignored due to poor quarterback play, poor play calling and other issues, drives me crazy. Can you imagine the careers either of them would have if Josh was slinging it to them? Like Paul Brown said, if you have a big gun, shoot it. Quote

Stud play and it fired up his team I think. But Wilson and the Giants offense repeated ineptitude sucked the heart right out of the Giants offense. Can he do anything but throw moonballs up for grabs these days? I see no lies I can't give him credit for which started by wildly chucking a ball backwards while under duress. The strip is alpha though, much the same as Josh always attempts after a pick, even in practice. I have thought that it will eventually happen in a real game although the odds are dropping as a function of fewer picks. He almost did it his rookie year finally against the Dolphins. Quote

finn Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Missed all the games yesterday. 😕 But I gather "Indiana Jones" had another very good/great game. I'm surprised no one is saying Daboll and Shoen blew it by not keeping him, along with Saquon, of course. Dart might ultimately be the answer, but with Jones in place, they could have used that 25th pick on a player that could have helped them right away. 1 Quote

His success here, as we all see clearly now, was all #17. I’m sure he got the Giants gig by selling his ability to turn Jones into Allen. He failed that miserably, and the fact that the colts are getting legitimate starter play out of Jones should be the final nail in his HC coffin My bad, not Daniel Wilson. I need to correct myself in my previous post. Yes, Daniel Jones. Man, Daboll and Giants screwed up big time. This gonna cost him his career as NFL HC in any capacity. Also, Daboll got too cocky/arrogant. Quote

Daniel Jones is another story. Daboll was hired because of his work with Josh Allen… or perhaps (perceived work).. and then Jones lights it up under Steichen? Quote
MasterStrategist Posted September 22 Posted September 22 6 hours ago, GunnerBill said: Monday morning reactions to SNF: - The Chiefs finally got their run game going which was a necessity as other than telling Thornton "run fast downfield" they are getting nobody open in the pass game; - Other than the backward pass he had to recover himself I thought Mahomes played a really good game. The numbers won't pop but while early last year I thought some of their issues offensively fell on Quarterback play that isn't the case here. It's mainly stuff around him that isn't working. - Talking of Quarterback issues... Russell Wilson is terrible. All dump offs or heaves downfield. He made precisely one what I would call "proper Quarterback throw" to Slayton late on. They are going nowhere with him. If you don't wanna play Dart put Winston in. - Also for its talent level that was an underperformance by the Giants defensive line. They lost too many assignments up front. Given the resources they have poured in - top 10 picks etc - that unit has to be the engine of their team. - It's been a really tough week for the James Cook haters. Not only did we see again just how wide the gap is between him and the other Bills backs but the "Singletary would have been just as good if the Bills had this offensive line when he was here" argument took another hit as he is relegated to kick returner on one of the worst teams in football. And while Skattebo averaged 6 yards per carry and Tracey, before injury, 4 yards per carry... Singletary had 4 carries for 11 yards. 2.75 ypc. He will be out of the NFL next year. Simple summation from me --- awful 1st half by both teams, and Chiefs did enough to beat an unhinged/bad Giants team. I'd add to your list: 1. Mahomes/Kelce connection continues to look way out of sorts 2. This Chiefs offense reminds me of Bills/Dorsey at end of relationship--- just not in sync, no identity. Maybe the rungame helps them become more balanced, but this isnt the same OL for them that can move bodies consistently 3. Mahomes backward pass happened 2x FYI - Chiefs were lucky on both/Mahomes saved himself on 2nd. I thought he played OK overall, by his standards Chiefs next 3 games will tell the real story and setup whether this team is going to be fighting for a desperation wildcard late in year - home to Ravens, at Jacksonville, home to Lions. If they drop 2 of those and end up at 2-4, we might see some real panic in KC. With Commanders, Bills, Chargers, Colts, 2x Broncos and Raiders. Not an easy road for them, given what looks like a struggling offense 3 weeks into the season. 1 1 Quote
