NeverOutNick Posted Friday at 08:56 PM Posted Friday at 08:56 PM I’ve always liked Prater since his lions and broncos days. I’m fine with this 1 Quote
UBinVA Posted Friday at 08:56 PM Posted Friday at 08:56 PM I had a bad groin strain/pull 15 years ago and it still bothers me at times. Those are pesty problems to get over. I'm older but still can't imagine kicking with one. 1 Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted Friday at 08:57 PM Posted Friday at 08:57 PM All IR designations are technically to return at a 4 week minimum, correct? Quote

Just go for it on 4th all the time, no matter where they are on the field. Not sure how it would work out, but it's a fun thought. So that probably would be OK except when you're down 2 points and at the 25 yard line with 3 seconds to go in game. In that case I'd take my chance on FG over scoring TD. If the same happens with 10 minutes left, I'd be more OK with going for it as you likely don't need 25 yards for the first down and even if you do get stopped, you have another 10 minutes to figure something else out, revert to plan B I assume Bass is on the recall list that can be brought back after 4 weeks if ok? Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted Friday at 09:06 PM Posted Friday at 09:06 PM I am a bit surprised based on the normal responses here that we're up the page 3 and haven't seen anyone take the conversation about a groin pull into the gutter yet. We must be getting more mature around here!! 2 Quote

You can still put someone on season ending IR I think. Bass was put on the designated to return IR I think. Prater should be fine in the mean time I think. Quote

Steptide Posted Friday at 09:23 PM Posted Friday at 09:23 PM Honestly, Im a bit relieved by this. Bass has been wildly inconsistent, even on p-a-t's. Even if prater sucks, at least we can chalk that up to him being the new guy. Bass missing gimme fg's is just not something I feel like dealing with this season 1 1 Quote

Denver and mile high before that. I wonder how much swirling wind conditions he saw in the Detroit and Arizona domes. He’s 41 years old. There isn’t/wasn’t a 20-something kicker on the market somewhere? His career outdoor percentage is 81% compared to 87.9% inside. Looking for outdoor games in cold weather climates, after November 1st, in the last 5 years, you get: 11/10/19 @Chicago 1 for 1 20-29, 1 for 2 50+, 3 for 3 XP 11/24/19 @Washington 2 for 2 20-29, 0 for 1 30-39, 1 for 1 40-49, 1 for 1 XP 12/22/19 @Denver 1 for 1 20-29, 2or 2 XP 12/6/20 @Chicago 4 for 5 XP 12/23/20 @Tennessee 1 for 1 50+, 2 for 3 XP 11/5/21 @Chicago 1 for 1 20-29, 1 for 1 30-39 3 for 3 XP 12/18/22 @Denver 1 for 1 40-49, 2 for 2 50+ 11/5/23 @Cleveland no attempts 12/3/23 @Pittsburgh 1 for 1 50+, 3 for 3 XP 12/24/23 @Chicago 1 for 1 50+ 1 for 1 XP 12/31/23 @Philadelphia 1 for 1 20-29, 1 for 1 30-39, 3 for 3 XP Totals: 6/6 20-29 yards, 2/3 30-39 yards, 2/2 40-49 yards, 5/6 50+ yards, 22 of 25 XPs Prater has kicked in Buffalo 3 times in his career: 2011 with Denver, 2018 for Detroit, and 2024 with Arizona. He is 2 for 3 in FGs and 5 for 5 in XPs. His miss came 12/16/18 and was from 48 yards with 5:55 left in the game with Detroit down by 1. Detroit went on to lose by 1. I'm not going back to look at what the actual weather was in those games and obviously there can be bad weather before November 1st but my guess is this would be everyone's concern about him kicking here. I picked the last 5 years arbitrarily. You could certainly go back further than that if you felt like it. Quote
