Josh is worse when Gabe is on the field. This is proven.

If having a player on the field makes your QB worse, he is not a player worth having.

Since there’s (by definition) performance below the average that’s gonna make for a lot of roster churn.

YES!!!! I hope every player is washed! I don't want no stanky players on my team.

It’s all I picture when people say a player is washed.  I’m like cool, glad they got their BO in check. Then I remember everyone on the internet is 14 years old and I hate everything.

The guy is like WR #7 on the practice squad. How can anyone have a problem with this? Jax is paying his ridiculous over priced salary. He’s only getting called up because of injury and we could do worse. Josh is much more mature, he’s not going to force the ball to Gabe and get pick-a-palooza again. All McBeane did trying to make a #3 at best WR into a #2 WR was get Gabe a hilarious payday and then he got cut in after 1 year. I have no problem having him in reserve if WR #1-4 get hurt all at once.

Shenault and Hamler must have really been bad.  I don't like signing Davis and I struggle to understand how anyone could want him to ever be active.

Shenault and Hamler were always bad. Shenault may be out of the league completely and Hamler might be too.

Hamler couldn’t make the team LAST year.

He's on the PS and recovering, with a possibility to provide nice depth as a backup on the outside and/or in the run game.

In a pinch he may be able to step in and have a big game when a starter goes down.

At the moment I don't understand why this is contentious. If he starts taking meaningful snaps away from other players it could become a problem. But that moment is so far away, if it even happens at all.

Moore is most in danger.

I think that depends on how literally the Depth Chart is taken. Elijah Moore is listed as a Slot.

If his role on the team is mainly that, I don't know that's the role Gabe would play.

Though I suppose Samuel could pick up the slack (as I doubt he'll be strictly on the Outside) alongside some slot reps for Coleman.

One of my least favorite moves in awhile.

Once upon a time I was in the bad WR2 good WR4 camp

I’ve aged into him being a bad wr that Josh made look like a passable wr4

If that’s true I’d rather just have a new guy in the room that won’t come with history

Who knows, but from what I remember, Brandon Beane always loved Gabe Davis.

I think he sees this as an upgrade to the WR group rehabbing on the PS.

I think you mean Colts.

He is an okay #4-#5.

I, myself would rather see Shavers active on game days if its between the two.

Not sure how many #4-5 WRs put up 850 yards and average 17.5 YPC, but sure...I guess maybe in Wonderland they do.

Phillips, Poyer, Franklin, Feeney, Green, Jackson are the vested veterans on the PS right now.  My guess is either Phillips or Franklin get promoted to the 53 clearing space for Davis to be the 6th guy again.

OK should have known Jackson, other names, no idea on their background

I'd say it's more when Gabe is on the field AND Dorsey is the OC. That trio together fed each other's worst instincts. All of those option routes combined with a bombs away passing offense were just an awful combination. As soon as Brady took over in 2023 Davis stopped being a problem. The reads in Brady's offense are simpler on the QB and on the WRs. On calling low probability passes he is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum compared to Dorsey, for better or worse.

Not that I ever again want Davis to become a key feature of this passing offense. But if he ends up as our WR 4 or 5 I don't expect that to wreck Allen's game. He'll be used as Brady used him in 2023 which was as a low target WR who did a lot of blocking and ran a lot of clear out routes.

He didn’t win us the Colts gave but he did make a big sideline reception when things weren’t going the Bills way in that game

As for the PS signing I don’t mind Davis in that # 4 WR role. It’s clear he’s now insurance for Samuel always being hurt or Moores inconsistency. I suspect he’s either taking Phillips or Franklins spot as they’ll be brought to the 53

2 big sideline receptions that went almost the length of the field with 1:10 left in the half  ! Led to a TD in a very close game. He definitely was a Huge reason they won that game.

I don’t understand why ANYONE would hate this move.

Was not a fan of Davis by the time he left. Thought he had too big a role for the lack of consistent success he had. But on the practice squad? I'm good with that.

I never want to see him as a main cog on offense...but having a guy that was a recent starter for us sitting on the practice squad is never a bad thing. Maybe he still has a big game or two left in him.

But he was also a place where offense went to die in 2023.  Seemed like he was in or near every malfunction the offense had that year.

Anyhow, whatever.  They have a break glass in emergency PS staffed with vets they won’t need to coach up because they already know the system.  I guess that’s smart.  I worry about all of the hedging this regime does at the expense of big swings but it’s a sane strategy to try to use the roster rules to your advantage.

He’s here to train and recover at the facility that’s why they signed him. I don’t believe this affects so why does it matter.

if we need a WR later in the year we have a decent number 4/5 who can make big plays and run blocks

people think we signed him to a big deal or traded for him. There are only 300ish players who could be on rosters he is probably one of them healthy

Its a nice feel good story to have Gabe back but he is coming off a serious injury that most people are never the same from after. TBH I'm still pissed that they let Hollins go to the Pats. He was so much better than Gabe last year.
