We project how good or bad our roster is and in my view, a lot of people project it to be better than it actually is. But when we make a decision to part ways with a player, then another team makes that same decision, then that player circles back to us, older. That is a clear sign to me of getting worse. Teams need new energy, new blood, new competition. Running it back is a very rarely a good thing. If he were to play WR2 it would be a clear downgrade. However, he's an excellent WR4. He proved that his first two years here. That's all I'm assuming the role for him would be. 1 Quote

I’m certainly not advocating for Gabe, although I like him more than most, but has Coleman or Palmer established they are better players currently? It’s at least a conversation. 1 1 Quote

He's a better blocker than Palmer and you saw how Hollins solidified a huge snap count as a result of that quality. He will rob snaps from at least Palmer and maybe Palmer and Keon. He's got too much "process" for that not to happen. A reason exists why he couldn't get off the field before. They like him, a lot. He's a McD guy to the core. They just knew Jags overspent. Surer hands, better route runners, and at least Palmer can create more separation. 2 minutes ago, Mikie2times said: I just can't assume that, in fact, I would bet money against it. They should and will be the priority. 2 1 Quote

Surely, this is a reflection of the entire WR room, which the BEST (Shakir) was ranked in the 20s… low 20s. And when I agreed with that assessment that none of these guys are even in the same ballpark with the Chases, Higgins, Lambs, Jefferson’s, Pickens, Browns, etc. many here disagreed. It is the Unicorn alone who elevates them all! Not their talent. This is a panic sign of going to the past on hope. 1 2 Quote

Process Posted Tuesday at 07:37 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:37 PM I'd love Gabe as a WR4/5 My fear would be they value his blocking to the point where he plays the old Mack (and old Gabe) role, where he is getting 80% + of snaps. As a situational vertical threat he'd be a nice fit Quote

I think it's fair to look at it that way but it's also entirely possible like 90% of the snaps that Gave would get are snaps that Palmer wouldn't be playing anyways. It would be someone that blocks worse than Gabe taking Palmer's place instead. So much of our offense last season was putting out personnel that dared defenses to play nickel and then try to bully them, and a lineup with Gabe and Coleman could take that to the max. 2 1 Quote
mushypeaches Posted Tuesday at 07:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:39 PM Signing Davis would all but guarantee that Josh throws more than 6 INT’s this year 1 Quote

So many times they were on different pages. A lot of people like to chime in that once we lost Diggs Allen won MVP. The bigger reason Allen's play ascended last year was we also lost Gabe Davis. I guess this board just likes having WRs that drop the ball A LOT. That run to the wrong spot. That have a low catch rate and a higher than normal rate of passes being intercepted when targeted. Yes. He is a target black hole. Nooooooo thank youuuuuu 1 Quote

Donuts and Doritos Posted Tuesday at 07:54 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:54 PM Gabe Davis career catch rate 53.7%. In 2024 his catch rate was 47.6%. (see below). Jags are paying him $20.3 million not to play for them. https://share.google/wkqHpFgfDxXlOckoR https://www.rotowire.com/football/player/gabe-davis-14359 https://sports.yahoo.com/article/jacksonville-jaguars-cut-wide-receiver-144443255.html 1 Quote

I don’t think he’ll be “robbing” any snaps from either of them. If everyone stays healthy, I think he’ll get some snaps as a blocker and on some deep routes out of the same formations to keep the D honest. jmo. He’s a decent WR and the WRs at the bottom of our roster are barely that at the moment. I’ll be forever sad that we didn’t resign Mack. I think what he did last year as a blocker and WR was one of the most under appreciated roles I can remember. 1 1 1 Quote
RoscoeParrish Posted Tuesday at 07:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:57 PM Beane should go on WGR to complain about them complaining about the safety room next. Then bring back Micah and Poyer immediately after. Quote

This could just be a workout to gauge where he's at in case of emergency. I think he's still recovering from injury right? Curious if they let him work back on the PS and at that point who knows what we need to do at WR. Quote
