Not sure how reliable Stat Muse is, but here are career Pass Catch %’s:

Saquan Barkley 73%

James Cook: 78%

Christian McCafferey: 80%

So saquan has more unreliable hands.

But we could at least start by packaging those 2 picks. Which in fairness means we're looking at the WRs in the 2023 draft, not BTJ and 2024.

So 2023 #25 and our 2024 1st (which was #28).

Maybe we couldve moved up and got Zay Flowers or Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

I realize this. My point was packaging (at least) 2 picks to move up to get him. Would have been worth trading both those 1sts to get him imo, compared to what we ended up with.

Maybe, but BTJ has impressed on the crappy Jags with Lawrence throwing to him. Sky is the limit in Buffalo compared to that. Either way, just sayin...

I agree…. I was just answering the question

“Der Der Madden Der Der….”

Eight draft classes to surround Josh Allen with weapons and in 50+ draft picks he got James Cook and Khalil Shakir… I mean, I guess only in a fantasy video game could one fathom to possibly somehow manage to draft another WR or two worth a 💩 in the better part of a decade…

Beane is definitely a top tier GM. Doesn’t make him perfect, I think his approach to drafting WRs, or lack thereof, is flawed.  Personally, I’d rather draft guys in the first 3 rounds rather than pay “jags” like Samuel 7-9million a year.

You act like the Bills are still in a playoff drought. Is being #2 in scoring and dominating the AFC East feel like failure to you? Not enough candy?

Biggest issue is less about Cook more about how he is used.

Barkley is on the field 80% of snaps

Williams 90%

CMC 80-90% (when healthy)

Kamara 70%

Taylor 60-70%

Jacobs 60-70%

Henry is 60%

Cook is under 50% and only had one game above 60% all season. In 2 of the 3 playoff games he was at 45%.

You picked a great time to come in here and piss all over the FO for not doing their job.

No doubt in my mind if James Cook would have sat out or got traded it would have been a big loss for us. I hate that he’s not an every down back but it is what it is.

Is that Cook’s fault? Or is it the way the coaching staff manages their roster? They do the exact same thing with the D line, and I recall so many plays when Diggs was off the field. It’s just what the Bills do.

1) James Cook is a good football player, adds an explosive element to the Bills offense, and makes life easier for Josh Allen.

2) As a matter of team building philosophy, I don't love giving second contracts to running backs that have not consistently displayed bellcow ability and pass catching chops.

3) Giving Cook the most guaranteed money that a running back has gotten in five years is...significant.

4) I believe what likely happened is that the Bills said "look, we can't reach the $15million number you're asking for. But we can up the guarantees". It was a way to meet the agent in the middle, make the player happy, and end the drama.

5) Brandon Beane likely did not want to go into such a critical season -- with the Bills once again on the doorstep of reaching a Super Bowl -- with a disgruntled player on offense and any kind of funkiness in the locker room. His desire for stability and harmony likely contributed to his doing what, for him, is an atypical thing at the running back position.

All in all, while the guarantees are high and the move itself goes against my preferred roster building strategy, I'm happy the drama is over, happy for James Cook (players should always get the bag when they can!), and happy that the offensive core is essentially locked in for the next three seasons. Super Bowl contention should continue annually (health permitting), and that's a win for Beane and the Bills.

Glad you came around from your prior stance, at least some.

As I told you in April, it was going to be about Guaranteed money and $12m aav would be enough.

Glad Cook is here for next few years at least - the impact he has on the offense is tremendous.  He broke alot of those big runs LY, based on his ability and quality OL.  But this wasn't some game changing OL, I've dropped stats numerous times showing Cooks yards after contact was "elite".

Now if Keon progresses like I mentioned i think he will back in April, this offense is going to be another level.

Interesting most people thought Cook practicing yesterday was a sign they basically had come to an agreement, but in Beane's PC today he basically said they told Cook's team he needed to start practicing to advance the discussions - and the deal was made last night after he started practicing again.

Strawman much? I may have gotten side tracked a bit, but all I said was I don’t think Beane has done enough to draft playmakers around Josh. I’m not even sure how I got off on that tangent, ADHD is a helluva thing, but my entire point was while I’m happy he resigned Cook, it’d be nice to have more playmakers to resign, but there isn’t bc he doesn’t draft them, and he’s missed some golden opportunities, IMO.

Nowhere did I say failure, I even used the phrase “top tier GM”.

Apparently we just need 20+ pages of “Way to go Beane!”…

Not arguing with you, but just saying that Cook has bad hands is not it.   He’s pretty good at catching the ball.  I’ll agree he has had some bad drops in inopportune moments, but he’s not what you’re trying to portray him as.  You’re wrong.

I noticed that as well.

Translation.. Beane- I can't move my number if you aren't out there.
