When I was a broke college kid, a friend won $17,000 in an injury lawsuit and wanted to buy me something.  I refused to accept his generosity at first.  It just seemed wrong that I should benefit from his injury.

My take is that he has an 8 figure amount stashed away in hidden assets and this is just another ploy to avoid paying his rightful debts.

Allen iverson famously blew almost all his money. A friend realized he was blowing it and managed to take 30 mil and put in an annuity he couldn’t touch and that’s the only reason he isn’t broke.

I realize many of these athletes aren't the brightest bulbs in the box but how you can blow 100M. Basic common sense open a savings account and don't touch it until retirement age. You would still have plenty to spend on nice things like a home, vehicles, vacations etc etc etc.
