The lead-up to the Cody Ford pick was disgusting if you believed in either the concepts of BPA or premium positions. "We need a right tackle". It was gross. I've generally liked Beane's drafting compared to all other prior Bills GM's. Terrible second round drafting has been a Bills tradition so his struggles there are nothing news. And I really appreciate how he manipulates the fan base and media. He's doing it here in this clip. If they were so sure Allen would be great they would have done one of these crazy trades like we saw with Cleveland and Jacksonville this spring. They liked Allen a lot but they would have just picked a different QB. It's their MO, they draft for need more often than not. I had presumed most of that draft season that they would end up with Lamar Jackson just because he would be the only one of the top prospects left at 11 and was underrated as a passer, IMO. Quote
Richard Noggin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Swear I overheard Brandon Beane (shortly after he was hired) say he hopes "that Allen kid in Wyoming has a down year so we have a chance at him" when asked by a rich blowhard guest at Tempo about their draft plans at QB. I can see which table Beane was passing as he said this. I trust that memory less and less as time passes (might have been later in Beane's first season on the job, in reference to Allen's pre-draft process/athletic testing), but the memory persists in my rolodex of intimate team official interactions. I remember being terrified the Bills were targeting the Wrong Josh (Allen) that year (because I'm STUPID) much like I was worried they would pick Landon Jackson at 30 this past draft. 1 Quote
