If cook doesn't have a deal in place by the start of the season, I'm telling you, he will magically have some injury that'll keep him out

Wouldn’t make sense to tank his value

The sides have been engaged. From my understanding, they have not been that far apart through the course of the talks."

Cook isn't the type to just 180 his whole mindset.  This makes it seem they are close to an extension and it a curtesy to him to hold him out of practice until its done.  Not a lie that its business that is keeping him off the field.  He is a direct quiet guy.  Maybe im being overly optimistic.  Or , or its like a baseball/basketball move and the Bills are in trade talks with Dallas for Parsons and Cook is involved. The last part is less likely.  The Cowboys are a dumpster and that news would be leaked already.

That will surely increase his value.  The Bills have ALL of the leverage in this situation. You're kidding yourself if you think Cook has any

Cook is a good player but I hope they don't extend him.

A lot of expensive contracts on this team, and I think going economical at the RB position is the way to go IMO

I am approaching the same place I was with Diggs.   The whole is bigger than any one piece not named Allen.

Totally different situation.  Diggs is a drama queen.  Cook, al least to this point, has not been.  He is a top 10 RB in a world that no longer pays top dollar for RB performance.  The Bills know this.  Cook knows this.  His Agent knows this.  All sides are doing what is in their best interest.  It appears Cook is trying to tip toe on that line between his best interest and the teams best interest.  I cant fault him for this AT ALL. Add in that Cook is not irreplaceable - and it's far from a given he will continue to be a top 10 RB - and this situation is just bad.  Naturally, I hope is is on the field too.  Best case for everyone is he comes back on his current deal, runs for 2,000 yards and get a Lombardi and a massive pay-day.  But I think more realistically - unless he agrees to take a more moderate deal - I see this dragging out and impacting the season.  Unfortunately.

Kind of find it interesting. From this article today, it says cook was on the field for 45% of snaps last year.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45893264/seeking-deal-cook-sits-bills-practice-just-business

yet, when I did some research, Derek Henry was on the field 57% of the time

and Barkley 74%.

doesn’t seem fair to pay cook the same if he can’t take on a much bigger load, IMO.

This is really small minded thinking

Greg Tompsett floated Cook, Epenesa, 2026 1st and 3rd, 2027 1st for Parsons.

100% yes.  No questions asked.  Especially if we have to deal with this now.  (I would’ve done it anyway).

Cook going back to Dallas might help Jerry save face by getting a star player in return plus picks.

So 2 1st's, a 3rd, Cook, Epenesa, and the new highest contract for an Edge Rusher - which would severely hamstring our cap even more going forward?

its a no from me dawg GIF
