The Diggs v Jefferson conversation is funny to me because I think the biggest thing Josh needed was a PROVEN offensive superstar in his corner as opposed to a great rookie. Now, do I think Josh becomes the superstar elite QB he is with JJ instead of Diggs? Probably, yeah. But I will never ever hold that trade against Beane. Diggs had the gravitas to help Josh grow. It was 100% the right move and even in hindsight, I still think I make it. Asking above, if you could go back and draft JJ, knowing how Josh turned out with Diggs, would you do it? I always think like... if we get the power of hindsight - don't the raiders? or the eagles? or any of the other teams in front of the bills pick? They would all take jefferson too. 1 minute ago, The Firebaugh Kid said: Id give em a 2nd all day. The problem is his salary I’d assume. Insanely underpaid and he has no guarantees beyond this year. He's already on his 2nd team and has made around 60 million dollars so... i don't see a scenario where he plays under that contract. He's a 31 year old all-pro averaging 14 sacks per year the last 5, who just watched Hunter and Garrett get big paydays at similar ages. He either gets traded and extended, or extended in cincy, but there's really no reason to cave and risk injury in a walk year. Especially when you have already made a lot of money, and you watched your team give 0 time pro-bowl/all-pro WR Higgins almost 29M AAV. 1 Quote

With a rookie you have no real idea if the game is too big for them. The other thing I see all the time is people act like it was Diggs for Jefferson - it wasn’t. It was Diggs for pick # 22, and a few day 3 picks. Had the Eagles drafted JJ instead of Reagor we would have been begging to go get a guy like Diggs. Eagles screwed up (a rarity in the draft lately) and JJ fell to the Vikings. (The thought of JJ being on that team is terrifying lol). We got an experienced starter to help Josh grow, Vikes got a rookie who could rely on Kirk Cousins to get the ball to him. Both teams technically won and got what they needed, but yeah the a Vikings just happened to have a generational talent fall to 22. If Diggs could keep his ego/attitude/mouth from getting locker rooms to hate him we wouldn’t even be having this conversation. Edited to add: As for Hendrickson, he is worth a day 2 pick but I don’t know how we could afford him. I think we explored the option, got his price tag, and decided to extend our own players instead. I don't see how we could make this happen either. I think it's time for BB and McD to establish a young core and PLAY them. Screw the bottom of the barrel vets and bottle feeding rookies. ie. Draft the hell out of the Dline and make it a strength and not like it took so long to make an Oline. BTW just as a prediction, I think Ty Robinson from Nebraska will be a Bill. Doc Posted Tuesday at 02:27 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:27 AM They're not going to pay him because he wants guaranteed money after the first year like Burrow, Chase and Higgins got. The difference is they were 26 and he's 30. So he'll hold out until well into the season. Quote

It's funny how when there's someone who wants a new contract and doesn't get it - everyone thinks they're going to hold out into the season. Of all the unhappy players who wanted new contracts last season, there was only one player in the entire league who sat out games. Haason Reddick. And that was less about the contract and more about not wanting to play for the Jets after being traded there. When push comes to shove - players hardly ever give up game checks and pay fines on top of it. 2 Quote

Explains a lot. 1 Quote

Who’s the cast-off? Hoecht? Ogunjobi? And why can’t rookies make a difference? The veterans last year sure didn’t. The Bills don’t have the $$ to trade for Hendrickson, as certainly he’d be looking for a sign-and-trade deal. 1 Quote

Yeah, in the last CBA the players effectively gave up their ability to hold out. The only times you’ll see something like that now is when a player gets tagged and holds off on signing the contract. Maybe once in a blue moon a player will opt to retire to force a trade, like Carson Palmer had to do to get out of Cincy. 1 Quote
