Before Harris got hurt, him, Murray, and Cook were all active.  Harris gets hurt and they sign Fournette.  To me that says Fournette was signed to replace Harris.  He's not replacing Murray.  Yes could he also take away some of Murrays snaps as he's a bit more versatile, but highly doubt there's any plans to have on Sunday the 3 active RB's be Cook Fournette and Johnson.

Awesome to see, but my one prevailing thought after seeing this video is damn offensive lineman are big. Especially big tall Spencer Brown. Dwarfed Diggs.

Jim Nantz wasn't even finished talking about the ending of the first game and what it meant to the Bills season since then.

 

Boom, huge hit and fumble on the opening kickoff. 

 

Bills went on to kick their asses and I sincerely hope they never look back.

In general really though I hate this. Either go for it or not.  Its just wimpy football.  Seems like a waste of time outs.

It's a great setup for a real play though.  If we snap it with 1 sec on the game clock the Jets would have been caught with their pants down.

Personally, I was really encouraged by what I saw from the offense yesterday. The defense continued to play really well, particularly considering all of the injuries to the unit. But obviously, given the change at offensive coordinator, the offense is what I was most interested to see. A good first outing for Joe Brady and company.

Schematically:

- Attacking the Jets' defense logically, i.e. they have really good corners, so we featured the running backs and tight ends instead

- Featuring the running backs in the passing game. Not as checkdown options, but on plays where they're the primary read

- Scheming players open. Happened on the James Cook and Ty Johnson touchdowns

- Attacking the middle of the field, namely to Dalton Kincaid and Khalil Shakir

- Featuring the young Bills offensive players in the gameplan. Kincaid, Shakir, Cook, and even Ty Johnson all critical to success on the day

- Less predictability. I, as a viewer, had way less idea what was coming from play to play. Can only imagine it was the same for the Jets defense

- Good tempo throughout. It could be me, but plays seemed to be getting in faster, and the Bills O getting to the line sooner and with more time on the playclock.

- Diggs only had 27 yards and Davis had 0, but the Bills still scored 32 points. This showed diversity and creativity and an ability to produce beyond WR1

Intangibles:

 

- Josh was fired up, and firing up teammates. Him sprinting all the way downfield to celebrate with Shakir, and then the WAY he celebrated with Shakir. Man, what a sight for sore eyes. Guys looked like they were having more fun. Didn't look so "heavy". A player or two specifically mentioned after the fact that it was a fun day, too.


Things I'll be watching going forward:
 

- Diggs was invisible. Was this simply a matter of gameplanning against a specific opponent? Will Joe Brady find good and creative ways to get Diggs involved going forward?

- Will the running backs continue to be featured in the passing game? Cook and Johnson are both good pass catchers and both have the speed to outrun linebackers, so I hope this continues to be a part of the gameplan

- Will Shakir continue to become the de facto WR2, and perhaps even begin to take snaps away from Gabe Davis?
- Will the offense continue to look like it's having fun instead of doing heavy lifting?

I think we needed to have two objectives against the Jets and their top tier defense:

 

1) Win

 

2) Get the Offense going

 

Check and Check

 

Cannot overstate how massive it would be to beat the Eagles and get to 7-5 for the bye.  10-7 "might" get us in, but 11-6 does and I think we'll all feel like that's absolutely possible if they can beat Philly.

 

Just like the Jets were a test for our "new offense", the Eagles will be a test to see if our new defense can slow down a top offense.

 

I listened to the postgame last night while driving home and Schopp/Bulldog were incredibly down on our defense, and while I get it... I also feel like Linval Joseph can give us 70% of Daquan Jones.  Similarly, Rasul Douglas 80-85% of Tre White.  Which means, as long as we don't continue to get decimated on that side of the ball, they really are trying to mask the loss of Milano.  Am I off-base to expect more from this defense than them being an albatross for the rest of the season and our offense needing to just win shootouts every game?

Honestly, he dropped a few at the start. That said, why attack Sauce and his shadow double coverage when you have other guys running open. This is a concept that Dorsey did not understand. It is a part of taking what they give you, and not taking unnecessary risks.

In the box score, he was barely noticeable. 

 

On the field and sideline it was widely reported that he was heavily involved all night, encouraging Allen and staying engaged with his teammates. Which is encouraging. 

 

Would be nice to see some more balls his way but I think they will going forward

we want the chiefs to have success tonight so they can possibly expose a weakness in Philly that we can use to help us win next week.  
 

The only things that matters is the Bills winning games and the teams competing for the AFCE and WC to lose games.  KC winning or losing games is irrelevant to our playoff push

 

We aren’t competing with the chiefs for playoff position. They will win their division and will have a better record than us regardless of this game imo.  The only thing that matters to us is winning every game.  If KC can show us some concepts that will help us beat Philly, that’s more useful than KC getting beaten and showing us nothing on how to beat them.

He had three drops and a fumble in the first quarter.

I imagine that may have affected how they used him the remainder of the day.

I am kind of hoping Philly beats the Chiefs so bad that both Mahomes and Hurts decide to retire tuesday morning.  Mahomes because he does not want to lose that bad ever again and he has a number of commercial shoots to get to and Hurts because he realizes he will never have it better than he did monday night.

 

All the bills problems solved.
