These have been gathered from the NFL's article below, NFL insiders, and Michael Mulvihill (X @mulvihill79) of Fox Sports.

Flexing to SNF:

For Sunday Night Football, flexing may be used up to twice between Weeks 5-10, and at the NFL's discretion during Weeks 11-17. For Weeks 5-13, there must be a notice of at least 12 days before the game. For Weeks 14-17, the notice is at least 6 days before the game.

 

Flexing to MNF:

For Monday Night Football, flexing may be used at the NFL's discretion in Weeks 12-17 with a notice of at least 12 days before the game.

 

Flexing to TNF:

For Thursday Night Football, flexing may be used up to twice between Weeks 13-17. The flex window notice is at least 28 days before the game. Teams can only be flexed into TNF once.

 

Week 18:

As in prior seasons, for Week 18, the final weekend of the season, the scheduling of the Saturday, Sunday afternoon, and the Sunday night games is not assigned. The schedule for Week 18 will be announced no later than 6 days prior to that week's Saturday game (January 6, 2024).

 

Flexing between Sunday early and late games:

Sunday afternoon games may also be moved between 1:00 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. ET.

 

Primetime:

Teams can be shown on primetime a maximum of 7 games, not counting week 18.

 

Protecting Games:

There are no more “protected lists” per se, but the NFL will consult with CBS and FOX (as well as the receiving network NBC, ESPN, or Prime) regarding the schedule when it comes to protecting games and optimizing the schedule. Generally, CBS and FOX will get to keep their top game of the week, but they don’t need to send in a list weeks ahead of time anymore.

 

Notes:

Only Sunday afternoon games (or those listed as TBD) are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, Monday night, or Thursday night, in which case the initially scheduled Sunday, Monday, or Thursday night game would be moved to Sunday afternoon. So, for example, there can be no moving of games between SNF and MNFand vice-versa.

 

The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, or Thursday Night Football during the Flex Scheduling Windows will generally be listed at 8:20 p.m. ET, 8:15 p.m. ET, and 8:15 p.m. ET, respectively. The majority of games on Sundays will typically be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during the Flex Scheduling Windows except for games played in Pacific or Mountain time zones, which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET.

 

During the Flex Scheduling Windows, the games initially scheduled for Sunday Night Football (on NBC), Monday Night Football (ESPN or ABC), and Thursday Night Football (on Amazon Prime) are tentatively scheduled and subject to change.

 

Fans and ticket holders must be aware that NFL games in the Flex Scheduling Windows are subject to change generally at least 12 days in advance (and at least 6 days in advance for Sundays in Weeks 14-17) and should plan accordingly.

The loser in all of this maze is the single-game ticket holder (of a flexed either way, game). But, they are also the least important to NFL revenue.

Yep.

 

Especially the fans who specifically took time off from work to travel to any of these games.

With Rodgers the Jets were a good enough team to warrant a decent prime time slate. Six is a bit over the top but they certainly were one of the top storylines in the league going into the season. They boasted a top 5 defense, solid supporting offensive talent (including Hall and Wilson both dynamic young players) and a QB who was recently an MVP.

As well as the most important factor to the NFL (and TV partners): money in the huge NYC market, especially with the Giants being good too (oops, that isn't working out either--they should be 0-3).

Guess they forgot to check the script when they scheduled the Jets.  Now Aaron probably has to show up to be on the sidelines do they can have him on TV at least some of the time for ratings lol.

FLEX ALERT:

 

In Week 6 (October 15, 2023), Detroit at Tampa Bay has been flexed from 1 PM to 4:25 PM to be the featured game on FOX. This replaces Philadelphia at New York Jets, which was the previous feature game.

 

Jets are still Jetting, lol. Now 1-3.

I agree. They would flex if they had a good alternative, the large Chicago market notwithstanding. The NFL gambled Chicago would be good this year. [They did get it right with Detroit though.]

No doubt the Jets signing Saffold played into it - and the "resurgent" Zach Wilson of course.  Also by then Rodgers may be able to play 😉

Those are definitely better games but the Jets and Vegas have large followings, whereas JAX, CLE, and BAL do not.

CBS Single:

I'm guessing it allows CBS to expand the Texans/Broncos game to 1:00 game to most of the country since Fox has the national window game at 4:25 with 49ers/Eagles.  Nobody wants to watch Carolina and Tampa.
