Are the Dolphins obviously better than the Bills?

Before I go into this, I want to defend Simms and Florio for a minute. Unlike the talking heads on ESPN and FS1, they don't spout things just for shock or clicks. If you disagree, I encourage you to actually watch PFT every day instead of piling on because it's cool to hate Florio like it's cool to hate Nickelback.

With that out of the way, Simms and Florio said on PFT this morning that the Dolphins have a top-3 roster in the NFL and are the best team on paper in the AFC East, supplanting the Bills. Simms said a position-by-position analysis, outside of QB, would be a landslide in favor of the Dolphins.

Do you agree? Why or why not? I'll admit that I was slightly puzzled by the comments, because I think I disagree.

QB: Bills

OL: Bills, right?

RB: Tie? I actually like the Bills' room better.

WR: Dolphins? They have elite talent, but I think the Bills have better overall depth.

TE: Bills

DL: Dolphins, but it's close

LB: Dolphins

CB: Dolphins, probably, if Ramsey is behind included, but it's close again

S: Bills?

Specialists: Tie?

Is that a Dolphins landslide? I don't think so.

If they get Jonathan Taylor then it's a wrap!!!

The Bills offensive line is not good.

More and more is piling on Allen is what I see.

The FO has strained every facet of the cap to keep as much of the 2020-2022 team together.

But in the end, only Stefon and Von have been elite players added since the 2020 season, and age is creeping into every facet of the roster.

I’m not so sure about that. Obviously hoping it doesn’t happen. One of the Miami reporters is on twitter saying they’re trying to get it done.

I'm sure they're trying.  It's not in their hands.

I think the Dolphins may have better top of the roster talent. However they appear to lack depth at a lot of positions.

On the other hand, the Bills may lack that true top end talent outside the obvious guys, however seem to be much deeper in depth to me.

Over the course of a season, injuries happen. Guys miss time. I'll take Buffalo's top 53 over Miami's for a 17 game seasons. I think we have a much better shot at sustaining wins while key players are out (see last year).

True depth means rotational players and backups who can step in and have an impact. I wouldn’t call the Bills deep. They just have lots of mediocre players.

Most posters here know my stance on the Dolphins, and quite frankly they still might have the best roster in the league even after losing a star player like Ramsey for probably the entire season.

With that said I'm still on the fence in terms of picking them to win the division this year because Tua still a big question mark in terms of staying healthy. But if he does they are right up there with the Chiefs and Bengals as the best teams in the league/conference and probably will take the AFCE with little resistance.

Tua was on track for an MVP season last year before the injuries and among the top 5 overall QB's in the league.

He's not going to wow you like Mahomes or JA17 but he's probably the best pure passer surgical type QB in the league and definitely on a trajectory to be the next Drew Brees. Seems like a good kid and wish him the best despite being on a division rival.

I feel bad for him with the injuries as you never want to see anyone get hurt. I don't think Tua will have a long career in the NFL. He had two confirmed concussions last year vs the Bengals and Packers. Probably had one in the first Bills game although they didn't call it a concussion. I think the concussions are going to be an issue for him going forward.

No. They are obviously worse than the Bills. I honestly think the hype on Miami is waaaay over the top.

They have an excellent left tackle but he is rarely healthy.

They have two excellent receivers but I like their #3-#6 less than I like the Bills and the depth of our receivers has been well debated.

The have a good safety and two good (older) corners one of whom is out for half the season and the other of whom is coming off by far the worst year of his career.

They have two good pieces on the Dline in Wilkins and Phillips, but again not much around them.

Where else on the roster am I missing all this talent? Their linebackers suck, they have no tight end, their running backs are JAGs, the rest of the oline is trash and their secondary depth players were exposed last year and they have added Eli Apple who doesn't immediately strike me as an answer.

Where do you all rate the the Dolphins vs. Bills in terms of coaching?

This could absolutely be my Bills bias, but I don’t understand why Dolphins and Jets coaches always get so much love. McDaniel, Saleh, Flores, even Gase initially….I don’t get it

McDaniel is doing a good job so far but its early in his HC career. McDermott has been a great REGULAR SEASON coach, but the playoff failures are getting old. If the Bills fail again in the playoffs this year or worse don't make it then McDermott's job security in Buffalo will come into question.

They're young and came from "successful teams" as everyone wants to think they have the next Sean McVay (see young coach that develop a great offense and win a Super Bowl) within 3 years with the team.

Outside of QB, the Bills just aren’t that strong, so that could do that with a lot of teams. Good thing this is a QB driven league & Josh makes up for many mistakes which will makes us Super Bowl contenders until he leaves Buffalo.

As far as Florio hate is concerned, he makes so really good points but also some terrible ones while sitting on his holier than thou pedistal.

Yes, they're better than us. The same way the they were "better" than us last year.  And like like last year I expect we win more games than the "better" team.

I could kiss you Jauronimo.

Not open mouth and not likely on the lips, but more as a sign of respect.  Not like the Italians or French do, but real, respectful good old American kiss, you magnificent bastard.

...oh, and your take is pretty good, too.

McDermott is not a great coach and not a bad one. Guess average to slightly above.

What do you think of this Devon Achane that is getting hyped up in the fantasy community?

Both he and Beane got the organization turned around from being a losing one. He has a very good regular season record but the playoffs suggest he might not be the coach to get us over the hump. So far that has been the case.

Agree, the bulk of the Bills defensive line is JAGs - Epenesa, Basham, Oliver, Phillips, Settle, Lawson.

DaQuan and Rousseau are going to have carry the line.

From my point of view I don't expect Von and Floyd to play a complete 17-games, they're reaching the point of their careers where whatever they give is a bonus. Pre-ACL Von was on-point.

Bills are paper thin at linebacker behind Milano, a collection of subpar linebackers (Bernard, Dodson, Klein, Spector), with only Williams as an upside player.

To me, depth is okay at corner, and Safety, but is Tre back to what he was? And age surely is starting to catch Hyde and Poyer. Hamlin is a JAG.
