May Day 10
The Jerry Springer show was great in the period of time where it went from topics of interest and was transitioning into the absurd. I'd say about 1997? It was still kind of trying to be real and grounded. Fights were real. After a year or so, the show just turned into a caricature of itself and was unwatchable. Maury took over as the most compelling guilty pleasure daytime television talk show. Edited April 27, 2023 by May Day

Just Jack
He did some work for MTV on their Spring Break specials. I remember seeing an interview with the three people in this segment that they made everything up to get on the show...
Gugny
All his show did was glorify the armpits of society. I don’t think that was a great contribution. 1

Sure you don't... Because you're not an egalitarian. The upper classes are just as brutal. One of the best comments in a YouTube video: "America is one big Jerry Springer show!" "I thought this show was staged until my life turned into an episode." 😆...

US Egg
Springer springboarded off Morton Downey Jr. As did many others. Lucky for Downey, he got that Ironman role to resurrect his career.

Another interesting fact about him is that he thought it was a good idea to pay hookers with personal checks. That might give a little insight to the man and the show he created. It wasn’t for me, but it worked for him. I did NOT know about his birth, which is interesting. RIP

He also had a place on Bird Key in Sarasota, as a number of celebrities do. There would be sightings all over town. But writing those checks is the first thing I think of. Jerry being Jerry, I doubt he would mind.
