Pregame - In Stadium Experience

I was surprised that the organization didn't do more before the game - it seemed like the crowd was waiting to explode if they would have put a message from Damar on the jumbotron or something, but nothing happened and the energy was sucked out of the air quickly after the national anthem.  For those that weren't there, they had a video montage to blizzard and introduced the training staff one by one.

We were fortunate that kickoff was returned to pump up the crowd again, but I thought the crowd was really subdued.  I'm grateful for the win - it just seemed like a missed opportunity by the organization.

We were expecting it too...

However, after there was a fairly modest 'production', it occurred to me that it was probably in the best taste to not take advantage of Hamlin to pump the crowd and team up seeing he is still in a hospital bed and considered in Critical Condition.   If they did that, it could easily be construed as soullessly taking advantage of the situation.

We did note the overall subdued nature of the crowd all around us as well. However, it made sense after thinking a little deeper regarding the emotional toll it has had on so many (staff, players and fans alike) all week long. There's only so much in everyone's tank, so to speak.

I’ve been to 2 games this year (Miami and tenneseee). I used to Go all the time when the bills were consistently 7-9. There was definitely more energy back when they were bad. I think 13 seconds took a toll on our fan base and we will be a little subdued because of our superbowl expectations

I didn’t feel the crowd was subdued, but I was surprised they didn’t do something to specially recognize Damar, like happened in the Saturday games. I was very impressed with the love the NFL showed him on Saturday.

I was also surprised there weren’t Hamlin t-shirts available for sale pregame. No signs handed out or anything upon entering the stadium. That also surprised me.

The crowd was so loud pregame, I could not make out the PA introductions of the first responders and missed that they had asked all first responders in the crowd to stand.

As it turned out, the kickoff return made up for all that; people were going crazy but it was surreal and many of us were dumbfounded once it happened. It didn’t seem real!

I think they wanted to do something simple and tasteful not some big spectacle

I thought that is sounded a bit muted after the initial 15 minutes of madness.

Probably a combination of exhaustion and the realization setting in that this is what we're going to be dealing with regarding the Bills defense the rest of the season.

My question to you isn't intended to be dickish (I say this because that usually IS my goal), but what opportunity do you feel the organization missed out on?

You confuse rowdiness with energy

People were more sloppy in 2009 when we were terrible And tickets were cheaper… cheaper tickets =more booze = more rowdy

The place still gets plenty loud… In fact A few of our home games this year… My father texted me saying how loud they were through the TV

You don’t hear other stadiums like that on TV besides arrowhead or lambeau

what you don’t see is drunks sliding down railing or 10 fist fights a game anymore … so yea it subdued on that

This. Let's keep it classy after a long, difficult week.

An opportunity to have a fevered crowd going into the game and an opportunity for a “you were to there moment.”  It’s probably selfish - but there were tens of thousands of phones recording and waiting for something that never came.

1. NFL teams don't make money entertaining fans with anything but football play.    The objective is to get you inside and bore you into buying food and merchandise.   They weren't going to go crazy distracting fans from their spending by providing a bunch of Damar-related entertainment.

2. One very noticeable aspect:  A LOT more women in the crowd.    That more empathetic half of humanity is also loaded with those who are attracted to drama.   But when it comes to down-to-down give a sh!t about football and being situationally aware of when to make noise........they just aren't the same as a house full of half-inebriated dudes.  So overall it wasn't an outrageously juiced crowd.    And I know this much.........if Damar is a heterosexual........he is going to need a team of personal assistants to keep track of the women that will be throwing themselves at him for the foreseeable future.

For those that remember, they did that with Kevin Everett. Brady then scored 150 points in the game.

I was there for the Everett injury and the rest of that season.  The difference is that this time we have the generational QB on our side.

I think "selfish" is kind of harsh.  Everyone's dealt with this whole thing differently.  It was an emotional week.  I'd be shocked if something like that wasn't discussed, but I do think their approach, in the end, was the most appropriate one.

It was a bit subdued pregame.  Kinda felt nervous energy from the other fans.  When Hines took the KO to the house, the place erupted!  Felt like a huge sigh of relief.

I will say the remainder of the game crowd wasn’t too loud.  Not sure why.
