but have opportunities for head coaching gigs bypassed him because of concerns over his mental health?

Has he had an opportunity to be a head coach?

I thought he just got promoted from position coach...

It was a poor look. Throw your headphones down, fine. But the hissy fit was unprofessional. Gotta be better than that.

Not the end of the world or anything but you have to control your emotions as a coach. And I say that as a coach who has also failed to do it on occasion too. I get it. But he has to do better.

I wasnt impressed by Josh's carry on either.. even if someone did grab his nuts...

Gotta have some cooler heads when there is some pressure on and they arent cruising up by 30

Yeah. Todd Bowles comes to mind. The guy is like a statue on the sideline. His facial expression rarely changes.

Someone once said he always looks like he just smelled dog crap and now I can never unsee it.

I LOVED IT!  It made him look human and not beyond some good old fashioned emotion.

The OP's barometer is a bit off on this stuff.  These guys are ex-jocks and athletic coaches.

His behavior was probably perfectly normal. You just don't see it all the time.

Using the word "unhinged" is ridiculous and describing his tirade as "truly bizarre" is also misguided.

At least that's my 2 cents.

I agree 100.  I loved it too.  I am glad he cares so much.

The guy is probably up 18-20 hours a day planning and coordinating game plans for the week away from home while making adjustments from prior games as well as for long term goals.

Putting that much time into something and not getting a good result would be maddening. Especially if you’re super competitive

Judging by a lot of the responses, I think  the point was missed or not stated clearly enough.
Sure, we were all frustrated. But I’m surprised that so many of you consider that behavior perfectly normal.
I can understand if he threw something, punched a wall, pounded his fist on the desk, threw down headset.  Any ONE of those actions would be a fairly normal reaction.  But it was the prolonged smashing and throwing that was disturbing.  It was something more typical for a pre-schooler who’s a candidate for Ritalin.
What would be your perception of a co-worker or boss if they displayed a tantrum of that nature? Would you applaud him or her for being ‘passionate’ about their job?
