  1. 1. IF Diggs wants a Hill type contract what do you do?

    • Pay the man his money
      116
    • Trade him for a Hill type return
      116

Play this season out.  Win a super bowl.  Trade him.

Agree.
Yes, Diggs is elite. Yes, we all love him..

But there are a lot of mouths to feed in the future.

This group of players will have to divide itself into what is more important to them… More money or championships and legacy. I get both sides of the debate.

The biggest difference between the situations in Oakland and Miami vs. the one in Buffalo is a top-flight, MVP-caliber quarterback that you need to pay big $$$ to.  Carr's cap hit next year is under $20M. Tua is on a rookie deal and I don't see any scenario in which he commands a $40M+ salary in the future.

I love Diggs but if he's looking for $30M per they can park his ass in Seattle or some other place with a ***** QB and let him collect his check.

Honestly, I love Diggs, my dog is named Diggs even.  He’s my second favorite Bills player behind Allen.

I would love to see him stay here, I really would.

However, if he is going to want anything close to what Adam’s and Hill got, then I hate to say it, but we may need to trade him at some point.

He is worthy of similar pay, but it’s also too much money when you have a big QB contract.  Carr has a cap hit of just $25m and Tua is on a rookie deal.  It’s how these teams can afford this kind of contract.  We don’t have that luxury starting next year anymore.

That being said, I think Diggs legitimately loves being in Buffalo and loves playing with Allen, these coaches, this team.  And he also hates losing.  So it’s possible Diggs will take less money to extend here to stay where he loves being and help the team keep other valuable pieces to continue being a legit SB contender year after year.

But I’m a realist, and that’s a lot of money these guys are getting and wouldn’t fault him for wanting to get paid like that too on what will surely be his last big contract.

So we will see if Beane and Diggs can work some magic or not.  But not only do I think we should trade him if he wants that kind of money, I’m pretty sure Beane will trade him if that was the case.

Diggs won’t get a Hill like return, I also don’t think a team would give him the amount of money the Dolphins gave Hill or the Raiders gave Adams. He also seems like a reasonable person who wants to win and loves playing with Josh, I’d be fine with like a 3/60 extension give or take a few dollars. Salary cap is going to explode the next few years so money won’t be an issue at that price.

as Diggs said yesterday...the hell going on ?

The have nots have blown the market wide open for qbs and wrs...under normal condiions Beane has done extensions late camp-early season, if this is an issue I would think it has to be resolved prior to the draft next month so we can re-tool...Hill's trade to Miami places focus on our CB quality, but a potential Diggs trade would also require a WR selection ahead of that or not ?

A silver lining to the trade would make more cap room for an extension easier for: edmunds, poyer, Knox, Davis....or a Landry, OBJ vet add

depending on what he wants. IF hes looking for adams/hill numbers than they will let him walk or trade. No way they should pay a 30yr wr that kind of money. If they can lock him up for an extra 2 yrs and a decent rate than he might be worth it.

My guess is he plays out this yr, and the Bills trade him this offseason.

With seeing these escalating WR salaries and Diggs looking to be paid as a top WR. What do you do?

A reasonable raise with some added guarantee money would be fair but if Diggs believes he should be paid like Adams or Hill then I would trade him while his value is still high for a first rounder along with (2)  middle round picks.  Diggs is very good but he will being turning 29 in November,  I also point to him being shut down the last two seasons again KC in the playoffs.  You could say they gave him extra coverage and I say the Bills gave both Hill & Kelce extra coverage and they still produced

Has Diggs publicly showed discontent, or is this a journalist made story to start s**t?

Back when he signed the contract, he got a great deal. Not his agent's, his nor the BILLS fault a couple of WRs have made bank this month. It's very normal he'd want that kind of money too. But it wouldn't that he starts pouting, skip out training camp and so on.

Win the SuperBowl first this season, THEN ask for more money or trade.

Hill saw Davante Adams and wanted to be paid more (even though he's not as good). So Bills need to see how Diggs approaches it. Does he want to be the highest paid WR in the league at all costs? Does he want to work with the Bills on a cap friendly deal? If he starts making demands and the Bills could get a 1st and 2nd for him I'd do that in a heartbeat.

With Hill, he's a 1 trick pony. As soon as his speed starts to decline not only is he not worth the contract but he could be out of the league. He's .2 seconds slower in the 40 from being John Brown. 1 bad ACL and he's done. Diggs has a skill set that could allow him to play much longer in that he doesn't rely on his speed but on perfect footwork and route running. He's more valuable than Hill imo but not sure if other teams feel that way.
