The fact that they signed him means there's little question about the kind of impact he'll have on the defense, if he stays healthy. Bills used Addison almost exclusively as an edge rusher last year. Early in his career he played a lot of 4-3 off the ball sam and a bunch of over and under (which is essentially a 3-4 OLB alignment). McDermott used to play a ton of 4-3 under in Carolina but has not shown a ton of it here. In 4-2-5 Von is a defensive end.
