Last year the Jets, this year the Browns. Statistical anomaly. Kind of like the Bills 2019 season. They start by winning a game they trailed 16-3, and ended losing a game they were up 16-3. Mayfield wouldn't have a better than 50/50 chance of outplaying Darnold. d. Carolina didn't acquire Mayfield without the general intention of him being able to start week one. EDIT: One thing I will agree with, though: The amount of guaranteed money Carolina was able to get Mayfield for does put him in "flyer" territory. Lol, Bills made their fair share of bad decisions all those years for sure and was embarrassing to an extent on many occasion. But not like the Browns and I'm thankful for that much at least. Browns have an over flowing ***** show that seems to get worse than the year before. They fooled their fans into believing they finally turned the corner and future is brighter than ever with that post season 2 seasons ago and they now have went above and beyond to the next level. Exactly doesn't make any sense and I maintain that Watson is not a massive upgrade over Mayfield especially when looking how the current team is built (i.e. physical power running team). But when you factor in the legal issues this type of deal should have never been made even if he is/was a massive upgrade. So there has to be more to the story of moving on from Mayfield or the Browns truly are a dumpster fire organization especially wanting to move on from a former #1 overall draft pick before his rookie contract is up and fact he was able to get them back into the playoffs and even win a game there. Yeah Browns did a true, pure bred "hold my beer" that took the top off assuring to remain unbeaten for the foreseeable future.
