New Stadium will have a grass field per Mort

When we toured Allegiant Stadium, they said that they asked the Cardinals what they would do differently with their rolled-in grass field.  The Cardinals said they would have raised it up 3 feet off the ground so you can get under it easily.

But a turf field and a roof would make more sense if they're worried about the turf freezing.  And I'm sure doing all that adds a lot more to the cost.

There's some really innovative things being done in England. 10% synthetic fibers being woven into grass fields. Heating under the field with drainage to suck the water out. Grow lights so the field is lit up at night and allows the grass to grow overnight. Wind shields on the open air stadium that keeps the wind off the field...

Huh.  That's crazy. There's a lot of hell raised over there about "plastic pitches".  Surprised they'd go for it.

Bring on the natural grass though.

I've been watching ESPN's countdown show & among all the things said was when they were talking about the fact that there is a tarp over the field at Highmark because they don't want the turf to freeze & get hard which could cause concussions, Mortensen  mentioned that the new stadium will have a grass field with a heating system underneath like in GB & KC.  I have no idea how he knows that or thinks he knows that, but that's what he said.

it’s a logical conclusion

turf is frowned on

cold grass stadiums ( all except for soldier field I think)  have heating/ drainage systems for better field conditions.

Oh, no doubt.  And blocking the wind will be part of the new stadium.  But it won't block the cold, like on a night like this.  And that's what's keeping people away.

But if they don't put a roof, a grass field would make sense.  No having to plow the pellets off the field with the snow and no needing to pay a ton to get people to shovel the seating area.  Also could attract more FAs.  But they can't have both a grass field and a roof without making the field retractable, and that would probably add a lot.

Can't tell the difference when it's 90% natural grass I guess.

The grass field was mentioned along with the report the stadium would be open air in Orchard Park.  The heating system is new info, but it makes sense.    I wish they would have had a grass field all these decades.  A lot of players would have had longer careers and, perhaps, a bit less trauma on their bodies to deal with in their advancing years.  Astroturf was a plague.

Mort has had a great source within the Bills organization since the Pegulas took over. I can remember specifically he had scoops on several Bills related news items. I would trust his info.

Huh? Really.

This grass field info. isn't even a scoop. It has been been mentioned for months and months.

Mort's connection to Buffalo will always be centered around his unfettered love for Tom Donahoe.
