So justify US oil companies obscene profits and say it's not price gouging. Use facts not opinion.

Oil the raw material required for production of gasoline is up 500% from 2020.

Obscene profits 😂 I know you people hate businesses and profits, except when you are taking yours.

obscene profit is what they paid Paul Fusco

U.S. says Poland's MIG-29 fighter jet delivery plan to Ukraine is unworkable.  Also, no explanation why they need more jets when they're not using the planes they have already.

Saudis and UAE declined to take calls from President Biden on Ukraine and oil supply.  But they did speak with Putin and Ukraine president Zelensky.  So now its off to Venezuela to extend the hand of friendship to Maduro and tell him we were just kidding about overthrowing his government and proclaiming Juan Guido as the "real" President.  I guess the administration can simply explain it was Trump's fault.

This Polish fighter jet transfer just shows Poland was never serious about it. They want to transfer them to the US in Germany so we can be the ones to anger Russia by giving them to Ukraine? No thank you. Poland is right next to Ukraine. If they are serious about giving Ukraine the planes then just have the Ukrainian pilots drive across the border and fly them back to Ukraine.

Oh boy

The attempts came as Ukraine’s state-owned grid operator warned that the closed Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been disconnected from the nation’s power grid by Russian forces, potentially jeopardizing the cooling of nuclear fuel still stored at the site. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba demanded a cease-fire with Russia to allow repairs as another official called the loss of contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency an “extremely dangerous situation.”

I’m not convinced f16s were an upgrade anyway

That is precisely why the US is flying WC 135 Constant Phoenix airplanes along the border.

Those are "sniffer airplanes" that detect radiation.

I do, and I think that's what the Poles really want.

Poland had no intention of starting a world war, regardless of US strong arming.

The question is why the US is going out of its way to intensify, not de-escalate this conflict.  See any ambassador meetings on the news?  Nope.  Any Biden-Putin calls?  Nope.

News indicates negotiations are picking up.

Highlights I've seen

  1. Ukraine will drop NATO membership desire
  2. Still wants to pursue EU membership
  3. Does not want to cede any territory

Russia willing to withdraw forces but wants recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and independence of Donetsk and Lugansk republics.  In conflict with Ukrainian position #3.  This appears to be the major area of disagreement right now.

The major issue of Donetsk and Luhansk is that only about a third of those regions were Russian controlled. Ukrainians who want to live in Ukraine inhabit the other two thirds.

It would sort of be like if Erie and Niagra country declared their independence from NY State and then demanded that every other county past Syracuse had to be given to Erie and Niagra.

Ok- I’ve seen your post history and take your word for it… I’m sure they have better avionics and maintainability- just viewed it as trading Soviet era Russian fighters for Soviet era US fighters.

On paper, the F-16, depending on variant, is competitive.

Other, peripheral issues make the case to get out of the Mig 29.

First, with the tuning up of NATO military capability, a sure result of this stupid invasion, it makes sense to have continuity in the air inventory of NATO.

The outlier of a one block Mig 29's makes little sense in that strategy.

The Mig 29 has a poor maintenance and performance record against wester fighters.

India is very displeased with them.

With Russia seemingly isolated spare parts would become a problem.

I think Poland kept them this long because they have quite an overhaul/maintenance industry regarding the Mig 29, and it's a money maker.

Still, it's just a bad idea to have a small amount of your inventory that comes from a known problem child.

The electronics upgrades on F-16's alone would make them better aircraft I'd imagine

Few things more depraved than targeting defenceless - UK PM

In response to the reported strike on a children's and maternity hospital in Mariupol, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says: "There are few things more depraved than targeting the vulnerable and defenceless."

He tweets that the UK is "exploring more support for Ukraine to defend against airstrikes".

Johnson says the UK government will hold Putin to account "for his terrible crimes".

Poland: “How about we give you the planes and then you give them to Ukraine?”

Convincing people that the fight in Ukraine is about freedom and democracy is really rather sickening - especially after our white leftist racist elitists said it wasn't possible in countries that are majority brown.  Sick racists.

If Poland really wanted to get these jets to Ukraine, wouldn’t it be easier to have Ukraine’s pilots drive across the border and fly them back? Considering they are literal neighbors. Seems to me Poland wanted to give the jets to Ukraine with no culpability.

They’ll give Ukraine planes, but they don’t want to go in alone and risk Russian response while NATO pulls a “hey, wasn’t us..” and then also not have planes coming in to replenish their Air Force.

They needed Poland to do it so Russia could be baited to attack Poland, a NATO country, and thereby enacting Article 5 of NATO, where all of NATO could then could go to war with Russia.

Absolutely the worst conclusion.

NATO does not want to go to war with Russia.

Chapter 4 of the Russian Constitution of 1993 gives the President virtually absolute power, making the Russian Federation a Constitutional Dictatorship.

It is spooky to read.

Russia? What type of government? Is that the question?

My point is if you call Ukraine a democracy what makes it different then Russia's?

Both countries have had sham, rigged, or meddled in elections - pick your global oligarchs of choice whether its the Clinton's Bidens or Timchenko.

This is why you support freedom first not just thump your chest and yell "democracy now."  What the hell does this even mean in 2022 when I have lunatics right here in the U.S. calling freedom the sham.
