Imagine what the package would be for Josh?

Well, it might be a way for the teams with upset franchise QBs to do something.

While I wouldn't take Watson for JA, I think Beane would have to give some thought to a A Rodgers/ D Adams and a second for JA.

Teams with upset franchise QBs should be sitting down with those QBs to (a) figure out what they are upset about and (b) fix that issue.  You don’t trade away a star in his prime at the most prominent position in sports.  The trade “scenario” you mention is absurd.

I’d trade Josh for Watson straight up.

I love Allen too btw, but I think DW is a a little better.

Watson came into the league a well coached, experienced QB out of Clemson.  He’s played at a Top 10 level for his 4 years in the NFL.

Josh Allen came into the league as raw as a QB can be.   By Year 3, he’s now had a year better than any Watson has had.  A top 3 QB in the NFL this year, with the offense on his shoulders, and two playoff wins.

If you’re worried about that continuing, Watson is a safer bet and trading Allen for Watson makes sense.

If you believe Allen will continue to play at a high level, trading for Watson is a horrible decision when Allen’s ceiling is higher than any QB in the NFL.

*Also, Watson grew up in Georgia, played college ball in South Carolina and his NFL career has been in a Dome/AFC South.... Buffalo/AFCE is a different animal for a guy who doesn’t have an elite arm.

Part of the deal with taking Goff was taking on that contract, otherwise it would have been fewer picks.

We'll see what Watson goes for, but he should will be traded for Tua and two firsts.  That makes too much sense.  Allen's value would be similar, but he is really not tradable.  For example, would you trade Allen for Watson and a 2022 1st?  Seems about fair based on production and contract status, but that would just be a betrayal to all of the fans, the teammates, and to Allen.

I love Josh too, but I had the same thought (for a millisecond).  I wouldn't do it straight up, given the situation that the Texans find themselves in.  But if the Texans were to throw in Watt or Tunsil, and I knew that trading Josh wouldn't destroy the chemistry in the locker room (which there's no way of knowing), then I would think hard about pulling the trigger.

I could drink to that.

I have those same glasses, but mine says "wife" instead of husband.  After I drink a few of those, I put on my Diggs jersey and have my wife fire footballs at me from 3' away.

Interesting.  Allen for Watson and Tunsil is very interesting.

But I think your point about the locker room trumps everything.   Between his teammates and the fan, Allen is 100% untradeable.  (Well, Allen for Mahomes, Hill, and Chris Jones, maybe!  But any serious trade, no.)

Stafford's contract isn't parsnips and rutabagas.

$20M this year, $23M next.  $10M is roster bonus due at the start of the league year.

Hmmmm.  Perhaps your judgement is a tad flawed?

Obviously, Fromm was placed in a difficult position during the season, but reports from training camp were he didn't look so good and Webb actually looked better.

Realistically, I think you would have to start at 4 1s to be taken seriously but that would not be enough.  A top 3 QB like Josh can carry his team to playoff contender status every year even if the rest of the roster is totally mismanaged.

So, paradox here.  The Rams gave up a haul to get Stafford as though he's a top QB - 2 1sts, 3rd, a QB who won the NFC championship 3 yrs ago and contended in the division round (with a broken thumb) this year.

Yet in Stafford's 12 years, the Lions have sniffed the playoffs 3x and been bowled out in the WC round each time.

Green Bay has a legit HOF candidate in Rodgers, and even there, they have 1 SB ring and 4 NFC championship losses.  Those are pretty much all in years where they had a top-15 defense, and they won the SB the year the defense was #2.

Me, I love me some Josh, but I don't think even a tippy-top QB can make a team a legit contender on his own.  It truly is a team game.

I would never trade Josh period the guy is Buffalo.  After the Stafford deal yesterday my goodness teams like the Saints, Bears, or Niners would probably offer at least 3 ones to start with.

Take what the Lions got and add a couple more starters.

LA included picks to incentivize Det to take on Goff’s massive (undeserving) contract.  Stafford’s contract is huge too but he’s a much better QB than Goff so he it somewhat is deserving given his production.
