How does Justin Houston get AFC defensive player of the week over Jordan?

Recommended Posts

Because of the 4th down stop on Williams against his old team basically sealing the game for Indy is my guess.

Because the Colts beat the Chiefs in a road SNF game and neutered their previously unbeatable looking offense.  Jordan Phillips had 3 sacks in a game nobody saw.

Huh?   Maybe he deserved it.

He was instrumental (i.e., don't just look at stats) in helping his team beat the best offense in football on the road...

Bills only get attention if Dildos get thrown.  We should all know this by now.

Name recognition, playing on national tv, his impact on shutting down the leagues most potent offense & upsetting the most hyped team right now. All things that probably factored in.

Jordan is on the Invisible Bills who MSM does not even cover, or believe in. He could have had 7 sacks not would not even be mentioned.

Houston played in a prime-time game and beat the undefeated KC Chiefs.

Yeah that and it's just a higher profile game with KC getting whipped.

Those awards seem so cheesy anyway, such a popularity contest.    If real football analysts dug deep enough, you could have a front 7 defender with zero sacks and just a handful of tackles being the true MVP of the week.    Look at Ed's stats vs his contributions as an example.

Good.  Keeps his price a little lower.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. You get your choice of prize from the bottom row.

Exactly. Better performance vs a team we were expected to beat vs a lesser performance against an unbeaten team that looked unstoppable.

Jordan and Bills beat the marginal Mariota and Titans.

Houston and the Colts had the upset of the year on the road in prime-time to beat sensational Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Dumb, but thats really just is what it is.

I know. Just stirring the pot. It’s just, as you say, dumb. It is supposed to be an award for PLAYER of the week, not DEFENSE of the week. And the Chiefs o-line is considered the weakest part of their prolific offense. So giving an award to an individual player who had one sack against a so-so line vs. Jordan’s 3 sacks in one half just because his team did so well in prime time is, again, dumb. But I’m not really surprised by it since we’re the Bills.
