BillyWhiteShows
Looking ahead to the Super Bowl, I’m trying to see how The Rams march up against The Patriots. On paper, I think that the Rams defense has some potential advantages that Kansas City never had. - Defensive Line. Suh, Brockers, Donald and Fowler are great at rushing the passer and I think there’s a better chance that they’ll stuff the run. Fowler especially can get after the passer off the edge. Donald and Suh have the potential to push the pocket back which had traditionally hurt Brady in the Super Bowl against NYG. - Cornerbacks - Peters and Talib are far better than anyone on KC who struggled defending just about every New England WR. They also can help defend against White and other RB’s on pass routes. Nickell The Nickell - Nickell Roby Coleman made some nice played yesterday but also had a few mental mistakes. If he can bounce back, I see Roby as being a good defender against those routes to RB’s that KC can’t defend. The liability would be if Roby gets matched up on Gronk and the potential for him to outmuscle or outjump a much smaller Roby. You can probably say the same thing about most of the CB’s on the Rams. They don’t have a big defender to match up on Gronk. Wade Phillips - He’s stopped Brady and NE before and is regarded as one of the best DC’s in the game. Bob Sutton - not so much. Wade will do his homework, so I feel LAR will be better prepared than KC was. KC having zero sacks and few pressures was pathetic. In the end, I feel a lot of pressure lies on the chess match between McVay and Belichick. Like Pederson last year, McVay is going to have to have show he can manufacture points against a NE defense who will be schemed to take one part of their game away. He can’t let Goff look like Mahomes did in the first half of the game, because KC was extremely lucky to only be down by the scores. This is is where I felt Andy Reid and Mahomes failed badly, especially in the first half. Andy was outcoached by Belichick and it put the team in a hole which could have cost them in the end. McVay needs to show that he can stand up to Belichick and can’t get schooled the way Reid and Sutton did. Jared Goff is the wild card here. I can see Belichick making him look very bad, but then again I thought the same thing about Nick Foles. dollars 2 donuts
They are at a disadvantage if the refs allow the ground to actually CAUSE a reception for the Pats, in plain sight, like they did with Hogan yesterday. especially if not overturned by obviousness in replay. whatdrought
Roby-Coleman will get hit with 15 PI calls as markups + going against Patriots. Jared Goff will be made to look like a worthless rookie.
Stevie Ray
Good points, especially about the LA Defense and the pressure they generate up the middle. For the life of me I dont understand why Pats opponents do not do this often as it has proven in the few times done that Brady is at his worst when he is pressured in front. He gets rid of the ball quick so the rush from the outside is useless since he either has gotten rid of the ball or moves up to avoid the hit. But getting pressure up the middle and in his face takes away those strengths of his. I feel the Rams with Donald and Suh can generate that rush and agree that Phillips is light years ahead of Sutton in terms of scheming and bringing out the best from his players.
Marv's Neighbor
Pulling for Wade & Co to be totally successful! TheBeaneBandit
All I know is there are plenty of players to poach from both teams, esp New England?. Rams I really would only be interested in Salffold, but New England there's Trent Brown, Flowers, Patterson, Dorsett, Hogan, and I think McCourtey. They can't keep em all folks lol...... NewEraBills
The only advantage the Rams have is Wade Phillips. He seems to be the only defensive mind that knows how to play the Patriots offense. It just sickening watching these guys call coverage schemes that defend things the Patriots do not do. For instance, the Patriots do not have a vertical perimeter game at all. SO why in the hell to coordinators call cover 2 defense against them, which allows the Pats to actually play to their strength. They hit you in the middle. The Pats are all about the middle of the field because teams for some reason run cover 2 Man coverage???????? Why??? If you press they motion to get that specific guy open. If you play off your DB will get picked. IT's simple. They are not doing anything special, yet here we are. You sit back in cover 3 and Brady will get surgical. Then you watch the Pats defense doing EXACTLY what teams should be doing ot the Pats offense. BEAT THE HELL out of the WRs within the first five yards and send pressure right up the middle. ? NewEraBills
The Chiefs tried to help themselves with an adjustment to what is referred to as 1 Cross, where the Safety takes the first inbreaking route from the #2 or #3 WR on the strong side. They had too because Edelman was killing them in the middle. But then the Pats countered quickly by lining up in a 3x1 and have Gronk on the single side and hit him on the post. The biggest problem is the middle of the field is open. And as much as I hate to admit it, Brady is a damn surgeon out there. ON the 4th and 1 TD by the Pats, everyone knew that QB sneak would be the call. The Chiefs covered up GCG with three defensive lineman, but the C gaps were weak. Brady saw it and immediately audibled. TD Pats. ☹️ You have to play perfect football. Edited January 21, 2019 by NewEraBills 2

GRHater69
Maybe some of these offensive "gurus' should look at better clock management and not always going for big chunk plays. I was screaming at the TV last night when the Chiefs scored that they left too much damn time on the clock with just slightly over 2 minutes. You do that if you have a killer defense like the Ravens, not the 31st ranked unit which would have made Walt Corey look like a genius. If it's a close game like that, take some f****ing time off the clock. If you're Sean McVay, and the Rams, keep that in mind.

They did leave too much time for Brady but do you pass up the opportunity to score 7 points, to run some time, off the clock to potentially settle for a FG? Unfortunately for KC they scored too quickly but again I don’t think your strategy is to wind down the clock. You’re primary job is to score 7 and that’s what they did. Big Blitz
Triple team Edelman. And take the run game away. Make everyone else beat you. Don't even bother aggressively pass rushing Suh and Donald (think run responsibility first---underrated key as to why the Pats are here---that and being ridiculously healthy this point in the season ). And move Donald around. Let Fowler be the guy get after Brady; turn him loose. Bc they're going to run right at him anyway. I'll take my chances one on one everyone else including Gronk. I'd match Talib with him. That God awful D picked off Brady 3x yesterday (the Ford off side made it only 2). You have to get there with 4 but you need inside penetration if your have to rely on your guys getting around the edge every time then Brady will just take that half step up into the pocket and by the time you get there the ball is gone. Blitzing as a change up can work but if he has seen that blitz once in a game he remembers it and the next time you run it the ball is usually out to his hot before you get there. It is really hard to do and you need elite interior rushers. Luckily for the Rams they have the best in the business - Donald. Unfortunately the unit that Brady most wants to attack with his backs and tight ends offense is your linebackers...... and frankly the Rams linebacking corps are among the poorest in the NFL. I would expect to see an awful lot of James White in the passing game. As for Bills interest..... fresh off competing against former teammate Sammy Watkins, Stephon Gilmore gets to go against former teammate Robert Woods. That will be an important match up.
