MPT
McDermott gets out-coached a lot. His greatest strength (and it is a big one) is that he gets maximum effort from his players. But he is continually embarrassed in game planning and in-game decisions. Edited December 9, 2018 by MPT 2

Darnold is clearly the superior passer. However, I'm not sure how to weigh Allen's running into the equation. Allen should be working on those plays and throwing and learning Allen had a lot of great throws from the pocket, dont know what you are talking about. He will stop running when the oline learns to block. Also many of the runs were designed runs and it is obvious he has been told to take off when he sees an opening. I think if he ran more in the second half we would have won. I want to see better passing too but they will come with time and a better supporting cast. 2

Usually absolutes are not true - he needs to learn from throwing from the pocket, but staying in the pocket is not an option more often than not. Sure there were times protection held up, but that is by far not the norm. You cannot watch Josh and not say that he is learning. OBD has to fix his protection, give him some more weapons, and then he will learn more.

Without Allen running the offense has almost nothing. Half the time the receivers can't catch the ball and the opponents know the routes better then our own players. A very bad offensive line, no run game, save the QB. Somewhat bad receivers, bad offensive coaches IE line coach, ST coach. This team is lucky to win four games and not allow more blowouts. He has been taking too many shots - I actually think he takes less when he runs, but you have to build an offense that can pass from the pocket. Also does not help when you are down to your last running back who is the size of a smurf.
