John Wooden is my coaching idol and in his last season as coach they won another national championship in '75 beating Kentucky. Ironically it may have been Wooden's least talented team in years but they went 28-3. Only 1 championship but Sabres made the finals and the Bills and Braves were very entertaining. Good choice, 1974/1975 great years for Buffalo Sports; great Stanley Cup Finals in 75 between Flyers and Sabres; I was working at JH Williams on Vulcan Street in Riverside second shift and the whole plant was out back listening to the game!! 4_kidd_4 Posted October 27, 2018 Share Posted October 27, 2018 My Bills/Royals/Canadiens combo is a tough pull. 92-93 I guess, Habs win the cup, Bills were winning the AFC, my all time fave George Brett got to 3000 hits in ‘92, and the Royals weren’t a complete tire fire just yet. I wasn't really old enough to appreciate it fully and obviously some pretty bitter losses 2006 Sabres in the ECF. They were so much fun to watch that year and I was really into it. It has altered my fandom of the Red Sox forever. I'm much more relaxed about the whole thing now, and feel no pressure for them to do anything again the rest of my life. In this way, I know that if the Bills ever could win a Super Bowl, it would alter my relationship with the team. It may sound weird, but I'll remain a much more interested, intense fan of the team as long as they do NOT win a championship. Once that happens, it's different and losing becomes "OK" b/c you know they did it at least once, and no one will ever take that away from them. When it comes to N.American team sports, I only follow Red Sox, Sabres, and Bills. Bruins — since I can remember.. I love Hockey and played all my life till I blew my knee out in college. I feel that way about Arsenal's 2004 unbeaten season - I still want them to win every week, I still want success and trophies.... but I am comfortable knowing that 2004 was probably as good as it will ever get.
