JerseyBills
Best RB in the game since 2013, statistically. He was magnificent last year, and hasn't lost a step at all. I think people don't talk enough about how great he is at avoiding big hits we see RB regularly take, which is why I see him putting up elite numbers for 2-3 more years for sure. Also his condition is bar none. He's very close to being a HOF.

But he's gotta get a run in the playoffs to get there. i wish it whole heartedly for him but that's a lot to ask he takes a brutal beating out there and he is wearing out, how he has survived concussion protocol at least 8 times during his time here is amazing. 11 minutes ago, JerseyBills said: Best RB in the game since 2013, statistically. Still feel guys like Shady are highly regarded , it's just that most RB nowadays have a good 2-3 years and fall off. As Nate Burleson said at halftime of the WildCard game,"He's the best player on the field" Which is quite a compliment considering the guys on that Jax D. KD in CA
Certainly not yet but still has potential so 'wait and see' is a reasonable option. Career milestones like 10k rushing yards can no longer be viewed the way they were a generation ago.
BuffBillsForLife
If he gets to 12k then yes, but if he retired right now then definitely not. He's a great RB but he's been on bad to average teams his whole career, which like it or not has an impact on HOF voting.

He says he is going to play 3 more years. Even 800 yards a year for 3 years gets him over 12k

He is a 2 time 1st team all pro at RB so by that standard he was atleast the 1st-2nd best back in the league that year He is always near the top of the league in yards from scrimmage He is a receiving threat as well If he reaches 12k he should make it

Not a sure thing altho he is without a doubt an excellent RB. Not in the OJ,Sanders,Brown,Campbell etc league of sure first time balloters. But perhaps after 2 or 3 tries ala Thurman. And quite honestly--in shady's favor..I dont think Shady needs anything at all more in his career to augment the argument for him. He paid his dues and has played at a high level for more time than most RBs.He is almost 30 and has done everything that he could do. He either is or isnt a hall of famer based on his already substantial accomplishments and unique style.

My only worry is being THE guy with the worst receiver group in the league, a below average offensive line, and an inexperienced QB. Opposing defensive coordinators will load the box against this Bills team. There is no way you can allow Shady to beat you, as he is the Bills only weapon. It doesn’t seem like a recipe for big numbers. It’s tough to imagine Shady averaging more than 4 ypg this season imo. I hope that you’re correct because he will definitely be given plenty of opportunities. I wish I were more confident that it will translate to big numbers. Staying healthy will also be a big challenge for a back his age carrying a huge workload. So you mean exactly like last year? McCoy has basically been our only weapon since he has been here. I guess Watkins was a weapon here, but he was always injured or under utilized. McCoy will be McCoy. He's special because he CAN be the only weapon and still produce. He'll always have those negative yardage plays, but he'll get those big 20-30 yard runs two plays later. Edited June 6, 2018 by MJS

I’m not convinced that a couple more years of those stats are going to get him in the Hall. McCoy is a special player, but he’d be putting up monster numbers elsewhere. McCoy’s production last season was nothing short of incredible, considering what surrounded him. Unfortunately, I think that Hall voters might want to see bigger numbers. He isn’t going to rush for much over 1K in Buffalo.

His numbers were staggering for a good span. Then you have a guy like gore. Really only ever elite in one season when he posted 1600 rushing. The rest just very solid over and over and over again.... now over 14,000 rushing. I mean what do you do with a guy like that? Consistency has to count for something but he was rarely considered a top 5 back in his generation. He’s like the art monk of rb’s. billsfan89
6 1000 yard seasons with 2 additional 800 plus yard seasons that were only held down under 1000 yards due to missing 4 games both of those seasons. That's in addition to over 3000 receiving yards. McCoy has been one of the best starting running backs for 8 straight seasons. That to me is HOF worth regardless of what he does to end his career. What more do you want than nearly a decade of a player being one of the best if not the best at his position? Is one more good season the difference?
