Roseanne Show cancelled by ABC after racist tweet

The other thing that kind of goes in the face of the #metoo movement is that she said something to the effect of put on a low cut top and waltz if front of your dad, which objectifies women terribly.

Here's the actual quote:

“He listens to you! Put on something something tight and low cut and tell your father to f*cking stop it! Tell him it was an Obama thing, and see how it goes!” Bee suggested.

Here's a couple good quotes:

“Ivanka posing for Playboy would be really disappointing… not really. But it would depend on what was inside the magazine…I don’t think Ivanka would [do a nude shoot] inside the magazine, Although she does have a very nice figure. I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

“You know who’s one of the great beauties of the world, according to everybody? And I helped create her. Ivanka. My daughter, Ivanka. She’s 6 feet tall, she’s got the best body.”

I think we already established the fact that Trump is no choir boy. It's the hypocricy of those that have condemned him for being a creep that rubs me the wrong way. Along those same line I'm sick of the fake apologies. I'd have more respect for either Roseanne or Bee if they just flat out said,  "Yeah I said it and that's what I meant." But thst hurts the pocketbook, so you'll never hear it.

In all seriousness, I think Melania Trump is a complete waste of air.  But I believe what Bee said crossed the line.  What Roseanne said crossed multiple lines.  I do agree that, unless sincere, apologies don't mean dick.

Yep. “If you can’t take a joke, it’s just too #%^*ing bad.”

- Mick Jagger, 1978, responding to Jesse Jackson’s outrage over the Some Girls lyric “Black girls just want to get #%^*ed all night, I don’t have that much jam.”

True that Roseanne’s tweet was more more offensive, but that’s how you deal with these clowns, for better or worse.

The difference is that comedians like Don Rickles and lyricists like Mick Jagger are GREAT at what they do.

Roseanne?  She's never been funny.  Ever.  Even when her show was funny, it was never because of her.  If this makes her go away for a long time, then I'm good with it.

Agree 100% on Roseanne never being funny.... but if you are going to make that kind of statement, you have to own it.

Agreed.  At the very least, admit she did it; admit it was wrong; say she was hopped up on whatever pills; but don't apologize unless ya mean it.

IMO, Bee's comments are grounds for getting canned too.  If a man called any woman a C*** on television, not to mention it's the POTUS daughter he's directing it at, not only would that show be cancelled but his career would all but be over.

Not exactly a tidal wave, but definitely some ripples

I have no idea why any woman would call another woman that name, ESPECIALLY in this alleged #metoo climate we're all marinating in. It's harassment all the same.

I used to like Samantha Bee when she first started out but she ended up like Colbert where the only shtick they have (or want to have) is politics and if everyone is doing politics, you keep crossing lines to remain relevant.

Maybe its the same as 'The N-Word', only they can use it with each other..........

I honestly had no idea Roseanne was still on TV.

What ever happened to the old saying that no publicity was bad publicity? This is not splendid publicity. And then there’s the whole unemployed thing....

Somehow shes worth $80 million. I guess there's some financial leeway to be dumb when you're sitting on that cash.

What a coincidence! I am worth approx $80, but I feel much less free to be an idiot (despite how it may appear here). How did this happen? The extra digits and commas count, apparently. I thought a zero meant nada! I was wrong....

The bad publicity isn't what's going to hurt Roseanne.

This cancellation doesn't just affect Roseanne Barr.  It affects John Goodman and all the other actors.  More importantly it affects the writers, show runners, sound people, makeup, and all the faceless crew behind the camera.

The off camera talent is what makes a good show run.  And the next time they're weighing their options, are they really going to want to work with the kind of on camera talent that could end your show with a single Tweet or boneheaded quote on some talk show?

Look at Charlie Sheen.  How's his career been since Two and Half Men?  Nobody wants to work with him

Did anyone want to work with Sheen when he first started on that show?  It's been a while so I might be off on this, but I feel like he was already reduced to random tv appearances at that point anyway.  So his lunacy at the end just returned him to where he already was.

Charlie Sheen is actually pushing for a 2 and a half men reboot.......

CBS and the show's producer should mess with him and see they are on board, to reboot it again with Ashton Kutcher....

As for the publicity thing, this is BAD publicity causing sponsors to pull out, cast members to speak out against her and quit. The problem in this situation is that the comments were racist, unprovoked, and another comment in a long line of comments she has made in the past. They have her a chance and she crossed the line again. Then she continues to come unhinged (almost wondering if it's an act to try and have people believe she is mentally ill) by apologising and leaving Twitter only to return later that day and blame ambien, then take shots at cast for not standing with her, then acting remorseful, then saying she tried to have them not cancel the show but ABC wouldn't, etc. Jimmy Kimmel, someone who angered Roseanne during an interview a few months ago for questioning her Trump support because of her past has even come to her defence saying that people need to show her compassion.

It is funny to see the trump supporters now screaming about Samantha Bee (a Canadian IIRC) using the 'C' word referring to Ivanka and demanding her show be canceled too, yet their Hero in charge has used that term many times in reference to woman, and many of their fellow supporters have used that term before referring to others. A woman using that word referring to another woman is the same as making a racist remark about someone else?

Theres slot of apples an orange comparisons from the 2 sides trying to defend their people. Comments or remarks based of race or sex are usually looked at much worse then insults made based off of actions or comments made by someone.

I suspect she meant it.  Roseanne's a "comedienne" who routinely confused "rude" with "edgy" and "funny," but at her height (during the original "Roseanne") did as much for diversity and inclusion as anyone in Hollywood.  My guess is after she sobered up she realized her "joke" was utterly horrible and was mortified.

And, being Roseanne, follows up her sincere apology with a battery of aggressive bull **** that she thinks is funny, but really isn't, because she's such a goddamn poor judge of comedy and lacks any sort of self-control or introspection.

None of them care what Bee said.  They're upset about the hypocrisy.

The only hypocracy is that their hero in charge said it too along with others and no one fired them from their jobs.

I do think she has some issues, whether they are real or an act I can't say, but she keeps bouncing back and forth from taking the blame to blaming something else to attacking others to feeling remorse. She's all over the place.

I will say I find it funny that Rosanne is now being praised by right wingers now. Despite her rendition of the national anthem, and even running for president with the Green Party, which makes Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton look like Ronald Reagan, in 2012.

Seems hypocritical that kneeling during the anthem is unamerican and against the military, but butchering the song and grabbing your crotch is fine now

The ads they are running for the Daily Show right now are brutal.  His delivery is so annoying that it makes it pretty tough to get through my weekend viewing of Meet the Fockers... or was it Horrible Bosses?  I forget which random movie I was watching on which station.

Does anyone know the story regarding Roseanne appearing or not appearing on the Joe Rogan podcast?

As far as I knew, she was going to be his guest last Friday.  Still nothing up at his website.

I guess it was cancelled for one reason or the other.
