Lol but seriously. I don't see how it makes sense. I can't imagine with all the Pegulas are investing in Buffalo and right near Key bank center that they're going to move the Bills stadium to Genessee county.

Genesee County (Batavia) makes all the sense in the world for the main reason that you can sell corporate boxes to both Buffalo and Rochester businesses.

The major deterrent to Batavia and Genesee county is they simply do not have the population and resources to support a stadium.   Nowhere near enough law enforcement.   Nowhere near enough tax base to fund construction of infrastructure necessary for stadium traffic.

But drawing 65% of your fans from west and 35% from east makes a ton of sense and great traffic flow for I90 Thruway.

8 minutes ago, runner68 said:

I get it but you need a ton of land for what the want to do with the shopping plaza and destination that Dunkirk Don talked about. Sure a stadium could fit at the Thruway mall, but do you really think they would stick a building like that smack dab in the middle of an already congested area filled with big box stores and residential areas? I don’t think it would be wise to do that...

Would they build in an already congested area?   Yes.   That is what happens in normal cities that are already congested.   They find a place that has almost enough room - then they make more room around it by buying up the surrounding property.

Is that practical for the Thruway mall area?   I don't know for sure.   Just speculating because it used to be a great location that is ripe for redevelopment on the same scale as the Galleria mall.

Can't see where else makes sense other than East Side of Buffalo where ghetto homes can be purchased for $5,000 and razed for another $10,000.   They could make plenty of room doing that.   And it would be central to greater Buffalo area with access from all directions - even within eyeshot of the old Rock Pile.

And both those locations are East of Buffalo as Donnie Brasco mentioned.

what Bills have a restaurant in Buffalo now? The restaurant is Sear.  Ownership includes Fred Jackson, Terrence McGee, and Brian Moorman among others. Also looks like there is some collaboration with P.S.E.

To put it in perspective, a typical small family dairy farm in WNY would have somewhere around 100 acres give or take.   Some much bigger.  Some a little smaller.

I actually had to look up exactly where Batavia is. (I left WNY when I was 17...a long time ago.) Finding the space won’t be hard, it’s a matter of picking the right space if that’s anywhere near the location.  Between Buffalo and Rochester makes some sense. I won’t say I’m convinced, but I can se the merits.

it would be completely idiotic to build a stadium in the middle of nowhere.  you think they would really do it outside of Erie county like some are suggesting?  that's tax dollars the area wouldn't get.  Buffalo real estate is booming and a stadium downtown or on the east side of the city would continue that development and do a lot of good for the city

Believe me,it’s not going anywhere near Batavia. The main market isn’t Rochester either,it’s Buffalo, the metro area and Southern Ontario. To the poster who stated Rochester is the second largest market, that would be incorrect. It’s WNY and Ontario. If you include the metro Toronto area then you are looking at one of the largest markets in the NFL.

Rochesters a great market for ticket sales, and a great fan base but it’s not the second main market. A move to Batavia could alienate a really large market in Canada and parts of WNY.

Believe little what is posted here. Including what I’m posting if you desire. The op will be correct on what was stated regarding the team. If you read exactly what was posted you will see all bases covered. Tyrod getting traded,Tyrod staying, Dennison gone,Dennison staying, the Bills are after Cousins,if not Cousins then Bradford or Kennum or Bridgewater and so on. .If they can’t get any one of those guys they will draft one of Darnold who they really love (publicly stated already) or Rosen or Mayfield. Or Jackson or... Again,all bases covered.

It was said he was looking for property near the supposed property of a new stadium, then it turned into being a minor investor within a group that purchased property.

Which is it?

There might be a restaurant and plaza being built that Thurman Thomas  and his group purchased land for but it’s got nothing to do with a football stadium and everything to do with his Batavia Downs venture and belief in Batavia. If Thurman’s telling potential investors the stadium might be built there(wink, wink) then shame on him.

Some people have real sources, and those sources are saying the stadium issue is in its infancy, but can progress quickly when they are ready. The leagues pushing him to get moving, and after last Sunday’s game they are pushing again. They are to get a stadium built outside of the snow belt region.

If Pegula wants funding from the State he’s going to have to build the stadium as close to Buffalo as possible. It’s politically motivated and earmarked for the economy of Buffalo and Western New York. Any stadium built in remote areas would not be cost effective, there would be monumental costs for infrastructure, sewage, water, electricity, ingress and egress issues, of which will be difficult to raise bonds for. Pegula would have to build the stadium himself and that’s not happening.

Those are the real facts, from real sources.

That, and the lack of a comp pick tell us all we need to know. I hope they both keep learning on the job. I’m not down on this regime by any means, but there are plenty of head scratchers. Passing on an extra 3rd rounder for guys who are just as likely to lose you a game as win you a game? That’s a tough one. We will never know what’s happening behind the curtain...

It shouldn't matter that McDermott was here before Beane, who is the GM.  It is up to him to think strategically about the team going forward.  McDermott has more say than the average coach, or so it seems.

Lol,not too far from there.

On a serious note, a developer with ties to many political people had purchased all the land in Niagara Falls near the Seneca Niagara Casino. There’s nothing left to buy. That area is on the short list for a stadium.

Its never ever going to be built South of Buffalo. There are traffic issues with any location, especially in downtown Buffalo. There has to be major upgrades to roads and other infrastructure.

Does his name rhyme with "Howard Milstein"?

Also, if is on a "short list", on what map is NF "east of Buffalo"?

Given the history of this team this millennium, I am guessing that any future trade with KC would be something along these lines:

Bills trade their two 2018 round 1 picks and their one 2019 round 1 pick for.......Patrick Mahomes. :death:

Terry must like downtown.  He is buying up all of the properties around the arena and developing them.  If he's going to do all that and then not build the Bills stadium near that would make no sense.  I think ideally the stadium will be in that general vicinity.  I have no sources on that other than my own common sense.  If they got rid of those Perry street projects and put the stadium on the water there between Louisiana and Southpark, that would just make sense geographically.  Traffic is the problem but I thought if they incorporated the trolley somehow that might help.  I just think if they could make it work and that whole area became like a Wrigleyville that would be a really big boost for the city and add a lot of development in areas that otherwise might remain neglected

"Smoke starting in Kansas City.  Source says teams are talking regarding player and draft picks."

Of course you love his posts. You read that and think KC would consider trading Kelce?

I don't get why the dude has knowledge that can be almost, key word almost, on the level of value of insider trading and he's out here telling everyone about it instead of getting in on the money. He keeps saying it's public knowledge and follow the money, then their should be no problem posting what you are referring to.

Or, it's that he's reffering to purchases that the Pegulas have made that wouldnt draw anyone in. Surely your source isn't tracking your two bills drive posts or he would have gotten in on it or cut you off... sorry for ruining your fun guys and bringing some semblance of common sense to the thread. I'll see myself out.

Update on front office rift. As reported yesterday, bean very upset that McDermott unwilling to part with marginal players that will not be on roster next year for a third round comp pick.  A third round pick is a valuable asset. There is more to the story. On the same day we traded for Benjamin, Beane had worked out a deal to trade Glenn to Seattle for fourth rounder and Paul Richardson and at last minute McDermott vetoed the trade.  Beane knew Seattle would pay up for Glenn because they had a real need and were desperate to protect Wilson and playoff run. Words exchanged.  Beane knows now Bills may be stuck with glennn due to injury.  Glenn currently could not pass physical and Beane knows he cannot get any real value in return now from Glenn.  Word is the Buffalo brass is concerned that Glenn injury is chronic and he may never fully recover and may have to take huge cap hit and nothing in return.  On the Kansas City front.  It was reported yesterday, bills seeking player and kc in desperate need of picks.  Kc may have mortgage future.  Reid felt they were close this year but season turned on him.  Chiefs not seeking first round but second round pick.  Bills unwilling to part with either second but would package third and lower round picks.  Player not known but it is not Kelce.   Stadium location is not Batavia and no state funds are involved.  Bonds may be sold to raise revenues.building to start in 2022 with opening in 2024.  New era college bowl game real possibility

I am amazed at the non believers. He is all over the place.  The sports world is very fluid. If you were following the Stanton situation everyone thought he would be on the west coast but he landed in New York happened at the last minute.  My source is not making decisions just is sharing what is being discussed. Don’t you think the redskins front office isn’t doing contigency thinking and what if scenarios around cousins?  What if we don’t sign him? What if we fanchise him again? Cost? What if will sign him to a long term deal? Cost is he worth the investment.  Don’t be naive.  Bills are parting ways with Taylor period.  Is peterman the answer? If yes, need experienced back up. If no then who? Cousins is their top pick, McDermott loves his commitment and preparation. If Washington franchise him then what? Vikings will have one or two qb available, are they the answers? If not then what.  Looking to kc. That how it works folks.   I am just passing on their current thought process and I am not saying with 100 percent certainty any of it comes true.  The bills don’t have any idea either what is going to happen either. On the stadium front, that news is accurate, the property been bought   Some people want 100percent certainty on every move, I have information that is accurate today but may change tomorrow,  we don’t make decisions for the redskins or the Vikings or kc.  This is called contigency planning.  Every organization does it so read the information or not.  If you don’t want inside information do not read my posts. The thought process will change based on circumstances and I am not being inconsistent just the thought process has changed based on the last domino. Make sense

Not liking what I’m hearing about McD...doesn’t sound too bright...we finally get a GM that knows how to operate, and it turns out the HC is the one holding us back, if all this is true.

Interesting about the Glenn trade - no trade - as many speculated that he would be gone. Also, I think at the time - unfortunately - many fans, including myself would have been upset by trading what was a blue-chip LT for a WR about to be a FA and a 4th round pick. However, in hindsight - which can't factor into the decision - it would have been best. But, I responded to a Tweet by Joe Buscaglia that it could be the Bills are essentially shutting Glenn down in hopes he can get healthy enough to be traded in Off-season.

There were rumors about a trade of Glenn to Seattle back then. That's not news but what was included in the trade might be. You could have said the deal was for anything since it didn't happen and there's no way to know for sure. I highly doubt that McDermott "Vetoed" the trade. That makes it sound like he absolutely refused to allow the trade to happen and controls Beane. Beane doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would be a total puppet. McDermott might have a lot of power and control over the 53 but no way anyone takes a GM job with no control whatsoever. There might be disagreement back and forth and one or the other may not get their way sometimes but It's much more likely that McDermott knows Beane is trying to deal Glenn and then sometime after that, Beane tells McDermott he has a deal with Seattle and McDermott tells Beane that Glenn's injury is worse now and he can't pass the physical and the trade then never happens. Otherwise, why try to do anything unless McDermott goes to Beane and says...Hey Beane, I don't want so and so on my team. Try to do a deal for him or I'm going to release him. And Beane replies "Ok, boss. Anything you want" No way that's happening.
