Chicken Boo Posted October 5, 2017 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Yes. The Bills should easily make them a one-dimensional offense. The Bills' offense should be solid and protect the ball. They should win this game by playing the same way they've been playing. I don't want this team playing to the level of their competition. I want to see them be consistent. If they play poorly against the Bengals, it will definitely change my opinion of them so far. Agreed, but not having Matthews DOES make a difference. Just like 2011 how we upset the Pats to go 3-0 and then just like this year, played the Bengals the next week. Anyways, if we do lose, does your opinion of the team change? For me I guess it depends on how we lost. If it's like 27-10, then I'd say yes, we're not as good as maybe I thought. If it's 19-17, I might still feel the same. At any rate, I want nothing more than to go into the bye week 4-1 No...simply because my opinion is cautiously optimistic. I am not prepared to declare this team a playoff team just yet, what is more important is just seeing that there is progress being made in the right directions with the new staff. And win or lose this week, we have definitely seen some very positive progress, especially on defensive unit and also getting TT to see and use more of the field. Bottom line is that the Bengals are not as bad as many people think. They had a poor offensive start, but like us last year, fired their OC and the offense came to life. This is no gimme game by any means, many people expected this team to be a tough team this year especially adding some fast and talented rookies to the offense at RB and WR. I have real concerns with our WR situation right now, we are in DIRE straits big time and going up against an offense capable of scoring in bunches. If our D can't keep the Bengals O in check, I fear our lack of WR's is going to be a big achilles heal this week. I mean our top guy is a rookie who has been terrible to start the year, so I don't know what to expect from ZJ this week. Plus all the questions about depth and the Bills being a pretender will start. Bengals have been better lately but I don't believe they are a good team or going to the playoffs this year. And if the Bills have serious aspiration these are the games you have to win even if the opposing teams brings their A game and gives their best shot. +1 While this team has a different feel - for sure - that the Rex years...the "S.O.B's" talk will start if they lose this one. If we can win 3 of those and 3 in the division that'd get us 9. Win 1 of NO, TB, KC, NE1, NE2 and we'd be at 10. The AFC games though would be huge for tiebreakers at 9-7/10-6, and we'd have a 4-2 divisional record. It's not a "must-win" week, but I'd lose a lot of confidence the remainder of the year if we couldn't pull this one down. I do agree that its not a must win game, but it definitely makes the road to playoffs a lot more realistic as you pointed out. As far as NE goes, I don't think its mandatory to beat them as I would fully expect us to sweep Jets and Dolphins this year. A 4-2 Divisional record would be strong still in tie breaker situations. However, I do think this team is capable of beating the Pats this year at least once and think we will beat them at home. We should be able to move the ball against that terrible D, and our defense is the kind of D that is best against a Brady offense and that is we get a lot of pressure on the QB right now. But a loss to the Bengals would likely put a lot of pressure on us to need to beat NE at least once to get into the playoffs as I think its pretty safe to say the AFC Wildcards will need 10 wins at least to get in. As of your win 1 games, I do think both NO and TB are very winnable as neither has really shown to be overly impressive thus far. They are no gimme's by any means, but definitely winnable. I think we probably safe to say we lose the Chiefs game who have looked like the best team in the NFL this year so far, and I thinks its very possible to beat the Pats at least once. Funny, the first year in a while that I was really prepared to suck and lose while being comfortable with that with all the draft assets we have next year and they go and throw me a curve ball and start making an early case for potential playoff run. To be 3-2 instead of 4-1 would feel like we missed a big opportunity to take control of our division. I still feel really good that we are moving in the right direction!! Our offense is not turning the ball over because our defense has been playing lights out , and so is our ST especially Steven Hauschka so there was no reason to take more shots down field and risk INT's , but what happens ( if or when ) were down by two scores and have to throw the ball ? C Clay( so far ) has been our best reciever and a playmaker , what happens when they shot down Clay and someone else will have to step up ? with J Mathews being out for a month who will that be ? Our run game was our bread and butter and # 1 in the league for the past 2 years , our OL was our strength last year and Shady was running like a beast , WHY f€<^n change anything ? This whole zone blocking BS is not working , 4 games in to the season and we still cant run the ball , How many more games can we win with 180- 200 yards passing , and running game ? It is like trying to pet a puppy from a shelter that was obviously abused because when you go to pet them they flinch and cower, That is the state of the fan base. On to the point it is a very Bills thing to do. After beating 2 of the top 5 teams in league they lose to a 1-3 Bengals team before the bye week. It is easy to say every game is just as important as the next one. If Buffalo loses a close game short handed to the Bengals does that make what they accomplished thus far that worst? I do not look at it that way. The season is in quarters. First quarter 3-1. Even with a loss Sunday they move to 0-1. Next 3 games are home vs Tampa and Oak and @ NYJ. They will be favored in all of those games. Now I think a win goes along way to validating the team not just to the league but more importantly the fan base. Every fan of Buffalo over the past 17 years has that feeling in their stomach looking at the Cinncy game. The same one that was there this past Sunday with a min left and Matty Ice had the ball. In 2015 when down 9-16 points Taylor was 49 of 63 77.8% 522 yards 3TDs 1 INT. Put that all together and you get 153/216 70.8% 1760 yards 11 TDs 3 INTs 106.25 rating.
