I am not agreeing with that. I think he is 4th on the list, sure. But I think he is still in that tier. He was incredible last season and had his team been better he'd have been MVP.

He's a top 5 QB.

Yes, he has great weapons.  But he's never had an offensive line and always under duress.

He's never had a defense so they're always in a shoot out.

He's extremely accurate but also extremely brittle.

Sure, and now the Bengals are going to miss the playoffs for the third straight year

Burrow is very good. He is elite passer and arm talent, he is also (not necessarily through his play) a big reason why the Bengals are going to miss the playoffs again this year

I agree with this.  Burrow's ball placement is so good hes often beating perfect coverage.  I think his job is easier than Josh's and Mahomes in the post Tyreek and prime Kelce years but I don't think its fair to penalize him for having the best 1 - 2 WR combo in the NFL.  I think he would have success in any offense with decent Oline play.

lol, Burrow beat KC in KC to go to a Super Bowl.  Thank God he's injury prone.

Every long-term injury he suffers does knock him down a peg or so in the rankings because he's rehabbing instead of being on the field developing, and scar tissue builds up over time on that body.

At his peak, he was absolutely top 3 and is probably somewhere in the top 10 at this point.

How about Flacco and Burrow are both very good?

The defense is the problem there.

Bengals are 1-4 when scoring 38+ points in last 2 years, other 31 teams combined are 62-4-2.

If I were starting a team from scratch and given the choice, I'd pick Burrow over Lamar.

Wow! I knew the Bungles D was bad, but thanks for sharing that statistic, had no idea they were that bad.

In the passing game, I think Burrow does better with two great receivers than Josh would do, because his ability to read the field and his placement are a bit better. But Josh can do far more with less than Burrow.

And then Josh adds a lot (78 TDs!) in the running game, and Burrow adds little.

Burrow is a extremely accurate passer of the football and has above average anticipation. When you've played most of your career with elite talent, especially those you have chemistry with, you're gonna look really good.

Not mobile and his pocket awareness is suspect. He's not gonna carry a team with mediocre offensive talent.

I'd say two things can be true at once.  Burrow is a great pocket QB and his talented receivers help to amplify that even futher.

Burrow is just super-Flacco really. Ain't a knock

He’s hardly the first excellent QB to owe some credit to good defensive performances in the playoffs.

There was a guy in NE who is the GOAT who famously had some great playoff defenses.

none of that matters because he cloned his dog.

but seriously, the rewriting in history of Brady's first 3 rings is amazing. he did a whole crap ton to help but his defenses and the coaching staff were the biggest factors vs. later in his career when he played the most significant role.

What Joe Burrow does, he does very, very well. He’s generally a pocket passer who can make just about any throw needed, and is very accurate. in that sense, he is elite.  And yes, it helps to have a great WR group.

He is not Allen, Jackson, Mahomes… in that he’s generally not making Superman improv plays outside the pocket and/or putting the team on his back by running the ball.

It doesn’t make one much better than the other. Just different styles of elite quarterbacks. Just my opinion.

I disagree with the thought that he isn’t elite.  While his SB run was impressive the defense was a huge part of that run.  If Josh got defensive play like that in any of our playoff runs he would have seen a Super Bowl by now.

I think Joe Burrow is firmly planted as the #4 QB in the league.  Josh, Pat, and Lamar are a step above him imho.  Lately it’s been said that they are the big 4.  I think it’s the big 3, and then Burrow on a tier slightly below.

The best ability is availability and you can’t count on him being healthy.

it is so much easier to play QB when you're throwing at guys like Chase and Higgins

I still remember Mahomes chucking it downfield to Hill and getting rewarded w some of the most ridiculous catches

having guys like Chase/Hill etc that can just make you right as a QB in all situations, on all throws is such a benefit

I mean, if you’d like to compare Tom Brady to Joe Burrow in order to make your point, that’s fine.

How do you think Tom would have done with Chase and Higgins?

He would probably have been pretty good. We saw that when he had maybe the best 4 weapons in totality with Evans and Godwin and Gronk and AB.

Nobody said Touchdown Tom was carried to that Super Bowl victory when his defense crushed KC.

I 100% agree and have always thought Burrow was overrated.  I'm not saying he's not good or even great, but he's a true "system" QB, whereas I think you could plop Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, and probably Herbert onto any team in any system and they would thrive.

Watched Joe during his run at LSU and a lot in the NFL. Joe Burrow is elite in the way QBs used to be. Anticipation, arm strength, extending plays, reading defenses, he's near the top in all categories. I think you also seem to forget that Flacco has a ring, the guy was and (sometimes) still is, elite.

Joe's downfall is a fairly poor offensive line and his willingness to stay in the pocket to create the big play backfires on him. If Cinci's line looked like Buffalo's you would not be making this post.

But in a similar vein, Brady didnt win a Super Bowl when he had Welker and Moss on the Patriots.
