Taro Nimbus Posted Friday at 11:32 PM Posted Friday at 11:32 PM Is this season ending IR, or just the first 4 games? 1 Quote

Bass was put on the designated to return IR I think. Prater should be fine in the mean time I think. IIRC, teams can use 8 IR placements per season with a designation to return. And can use IR without that designation for all injuries that are considered season-ending. 1 Quote

I think that probably means surgery and likely out for the season. I have no clue what he has, but will assume it's a sports hernia because I saw that somewhere too. If it's not this then this whole post is irrelevant. I had a sports hernia in about a year ago. A couple things to note. First it's not really a hernia (so no intestines are protruding through the abdominal wall). Recovery does not require surgery. From the internet: A sports hernia, also known as athletic pubalgia, is a core muscle injury that occurs when the lower abdominal wall or tendons connecting muscles to the pelvis weaken or tear. It is called a hernia because the symptoms feel the same, acute pain in an area. It hurts a lot to do a kicking motion. While rehabbing, I was feeling better and kicked (moderate strength) a soccer ball, it was very painful even when some other motions weren't that bad. Jumping and running also hurt significantly. I'm not a pro athlete (surprise) so my rehab was normal person speed. I do play basketball at least once a week and was out for about 6 weeks. Now an athlete whose job it is to recover will probably do better. And he's been rehabbing so has some time in already. But I can say probably no surgery which gives a reasonable opportunity to return. 2 2 Quote

without a drought Posted Saturday at 12:29 AM Posted Saturday at 12:29 AM He will be the oldest player to ever play for the Bills at 41 years old. He will surpass QB Bill Munson who was 38 in 1979 1 1 Quote

DrPJax Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM This is typical Mcd / Beane management of this roster. You have a kicker coming off a shaky season , has an injury for a prolonged period of time ( when you easily could have looked late in the draft or worked out several prior to the last 2 weeks before the season ) , yet you GO WITH A OLD VET LIKE YOU ALWAYS CHOOSE to do, even tho your vet strategy has led to 0 SB appearances. Now this guy is expected to do all you want with ball placement on kickoffs etc, plus be expected to handle stadium winds etc, when you have expectations of getting home field advantage for a SB run. Guy was obviously NOT on a roster for some reason, or was he just waiting for the right club , right deal ( sarcasm please) ? When you had to limit his fg length attempt in a preseason game , isn’t that enough to know it’s time to have a FIRM plan b? Guess not with this staff. Bass wasn’t progressing fully, missed a short fg attempt , yet let’s wait even more? Medically it’s idiotic. Probably needs surgical treatment , it’s ok to wait some time , but delaying like this without deciding just doesn’t make sense. If it’s not amenable to surgery , then not having explored other options is just inexcusable as this might never resolve without full rest for a prolonged time. Everyone knows some games will come down to a fg , and this has effects managing the game as I’m betting this guy isn’t a sure thing over 50, like many young kickers have become. I just think with the odd preseason already ( many injuries , suspensions, adding players w known injury issues, bringing in several old players to help “ watch film , and help in the rooms” , ) , this just doesn’t have the feel of a true SB bound organization, it feels chaotic outside of the given stability and talent of Allen. I’m just comparing these moves to organizations like the chiefs or eagles, and it just feels like it’s hoping things will come together rather than good decision making. Small things separate success from being a franchise with 0 SB WINS in their history. This just feels BILLSY again to me having followed them since ‘63. Hey, always waiting to be wrong , but I am honestly having more doubts about Mcd / Beane. Great talkers , great under performers. ( I don’t see the bills getting 3 from 59 as the clock runs out , do you?Chiefs just showing how they are detail oriented) 1 1 1 Quote

First Round Bust Posted Saturday at 02:18 AM Posted Saturday at 02:18 AM 6 hours ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said: ugh. I have a buddy who said this is a sports hernia. Has anyone else seen that? I think that probably means surgery and likely out for the season. if so... There are two main types of surgical techniques used to treat sports hernias: Open Surgery: . The surgeon makes a larger incision in the groin area to access and repair the injured tissues. Laparoscopic Surgery: . This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions and a camera to guide the surgeon. Recovery and Rehabilitation After surgery, patients typically require a period of rest and rehabilitation to allow the injured tissues to heal. Physical therapy is an important part of the recovery process and may include exercises to strengthen the core, hip, and groin muscles. Most patients can return to their previous level of activity within 6-12 weeks after surgery. However, it is important to follow the surgeon's instructions carefully and avoid activities that may aggravate the condition. Success Rates The success rates for sports hernia surgery are generally high. Studies have shown that over 90% of patients report significant improvement in pain and function after surgery. 1 Quote

Cubanmist 1 Posted Saturday at 03:40 AM Posted Saturday at 03:40 AM I seriously think Bass will not be active again this year. Dude probably has a hernia or a tear, or perhaps something more serious that requires medical attention. Quote

I think if Prater is Perfect in his stead, it will be hard for them to justify pulling him out for Bass coming off injury. If Prater starts missing kicks and Bass is ready to go, he'll be back. 2 Quote
