You said “always”.

Yes, there is always a reason and the Raiders had to have one with Lofton which is why they released him.  The fact that he worked out for the Bills is the outlier. The Pats have a reason for releasing Peppers. But the question is - will he be a bed bug or an outlier? Me thinks bed bug.

He isn't really a safety. He is a hybrid. Decent run player, good instincts, liability in coverage.

He’s a much better defensive player than Codrington & just as good of a punt returner. A no brainer to go get him & replace him for Codrington.

I’ll give Vrabel and Wolf this, they are cleaning house on guys that don’t fit what Vrabel wants or expects. We’ll see how it plays out and whether it backfires or not

There getting rid of the Billichick era as quickly as possible

No one can convince me that Peppers wouldn't help this roster.

Give him Codrington's roster spot. Let him be your punt returner while he learns the defense.

Our defensive staff would find a way to make good use of his defensive versatility. As a third safety or dime backer in certain coverages, he'd be useful.

Okay Nate Geary.

I’ll pass on Peppers, yes he’s better than out depth safeties but he’s also going to cost infinite amount more than Hamlin and Hancock combined plus he and Rapp on the field makes less sense than Rapp and Bishop does already

He has returned 1 kick since 2018 and 4 punts since 2021. Think those days are behind him personally.

Could see him as a Bungal.

Also, I don't see him as a replacement for Hamlin so we'd have to release someone and we already have that problem with Max, Grable, Hoecht, and Ogunjobi.

Agree.. MV has a 54% winning % as NFL head coach. Solid but it seems the narrative is that the Pats will be significantly better because of him. I think they will have improved because they have better players with an evolving QB. In his prime Tannehill  was a solid QB. Peppers does not fit the mold of the new more athletic S.. not sure the Bills have one either🤷🏻‍♂️.. it’s supposed to be Bishop.

He’s return exactly 4 punts for 26 yards since 2021. An oft injured slower in the box safety I don’t think aligns with Bills needs.

You think Hamlin is better?  I do not.  By a Longshot.  Hamlins only advantage is he knows the system.   The one that loses in the playoffs every freaking year.

Yes I agree Hamlin is not the answer. Nor is Peppers.
