They're not getting rid of Daquan. Not a chance!

You sure about that? Deone Walker was brought in to be his eventual replacement. And he's been wow'ing at every opportunity.

If they feel he's ready to handle that spot right now (alongside T.J. Sanders sliding over to rush alongside Oliver on obvious passing downs) - cutting Daquan Jones saves us 5.5m on the Cap.

I'm not saying that's definitively what's happening here. But we need to free up cap to go from 51 to 53, pay the PS, and have in season spending. And with the performance of Walker and Jones being able to save us 5.5m - I definitely wouldn't say "not a chance".

Was thinking it wasn't official yet, just agreed upon by both parties

I thought the report was that he signed already. It is certainly possible that he’s agreed to sign to the PS later this week.

We have Josh Allen, the best player on the planet but continuously draft a multitude of meh players on the defensive line while neglecting true young cheap weapons to develop with Josh on offense. I think it’s perfectly fine to criticize the FO and McD until they prove it with a Lombardi.

Out of 32 NFL teams how many teams have won Lombardi’s over the past decade? Winning a championship is hard…..there are like 13-14 teams that haven’t reached the Super Bowl in the past 20 years!

How many teams have a future first ballot HOF QB that haven't appeared in a Super Bowl.

Most wins by a coach or qb without a Super Bowl appearance. In that stretch the Defense has consistently not performed with continuous band aid signings like this. But keep waving the flag and banging the drum.

Because once you pay the QB it becomes that much harder to build a championship caliber team! Last I checked the Chiefs and the Patriots have owned the AFC the past 20 years….you guys act like the Bills aren’t even trying!

Rodgers has only been there once in 20 seasons.

The two points can be separate, ya know. I can think "wow, with all the assets we've poured into the Defense, and all the ways we should have been (and won) a Lombardi by now...we're still diving into the vet FA pool to fill positions for a defense that has continually been the crux of why we can't get to the superbowl."

That should be alarming. Has nothing to do with QB contracts, especially when Beane made a bunch of FA signings the last few years focused on the D.

What we do with our D is kind of like when championship teams bring back guys who know how to get it done on their side of the ball when it matters most...except for the whole winning championships thing or our defense ever not being horrible when it matters most

I'd be shocked if this happens.  Can't imagine they would go with a rookie starter and an underperforming second year at the 1 tech.  Phillips is not a 1 tech to line up next to Oliver in run downs.  He is best served as an interior pass rusher to line up next to Oliver on 2rd and 3rd and long situations.

But what the hell lets put even more pressure on Allen to score 40 a game

Come on.

Not a fan of these lackluster, likely to add little of nothing to our defense moves this off season--White, Jackson, and now Phillips.

To me it is settling, going for the safe, familiar choices.

But they are not safe moves as far as improving the team, they have seemed detrimental to its growth.

Hopefully he has taken a  shi# load of performance enhancing drugs since he last played.  But hoping more that this is a very short term move.

To me, a very good off season and draft to improve the defense, so would be very discouraging to see players like Jordan and White (as a starter) and Jackson on this roster come opening day.

Yeah I don't understand this one.

EDIT: To the active roster, NOT the practice squad:

I do. He is Brandon Beane's pet project. He just can't quit him.

And they will need a 5th DT I imagine. Carter is trash.

At every opportunity to rush the passer.... his run D... not so much.

I have not watched but Marino says Carter is not worth a roster spot but he thinks he will make it.  Wonder if the bills are ready to make that move.  Or jones like people are saying, looks like a cap savings to be had.
