yea and it sure felt like white was the leader in the clubhouse from day one.

 

I know they signed white as a mentor and a just in case guy which is great but there should be someone else on the roster who can play and guard nfl wr's.

An old tre white coming off two back to back injuries and a low upside safety coming on a one year deal, does not really inspire confidence.

Their tendency to reach back to what/who they know is problematic. They've done it since day one with the Carolina retreads, now we are recycling our own.

I think your overreacting if you think a washed Tre White - no matter how much we like him - was the bulwark of success for this team. He was a free agent for a reason…and likely Buffalo was his only landing spot.

Buffalo may have to do a bit of juggling at the CB starting the season.  I've seen 53 man roster projections that put Hairston on the IR to start the season.  If White has more than a two week injury, the Bills may want to keep Hairston on the 53 man roster to start the season since he may be recovered from his injury before the 4 week IR minimum expires.  The challenge is going to be finding a healthy body to start across from Benford in the Ravens game.  We've heard the free agent names out there.  There are a very few good ones who will want big bucks in any contract.  There are some old ones that may or may not have any gas left in the tank, including, of course, Rasul Douglas, who knows Buffalo's system but probably has hit the career wall and has little left to give.  Gilmore is good, but pretty old.  Whoever Buffalo might sign, the question is, was the system he's played in similar enough to what the Bills play that he can play versus Baltimore without being lost.  Otherwise, Buffalo might be stuck with Dane Jackson or Dorian Strong.  None of the options fill me with confidence.

Fans will look back on this year and question why were we ok with a mediocre secondary knowing will have to potentially play Baltimore, Kansas City and Maybe Cincinnati in the playoffs. 
 

Pass rush is cool, but all 3 of those QBs are great under pressure, DLine can only help do much. Safeties are suspect and now CBs may be super thin. …. They just won’t throw at Benford. All those teams have crazy WR talent

We drafted a corner in the 1st round.   A 1st round corner SHOULD start.  Benford, a 1st rounder & Johnson might be a very good group.  It's too early to be deeming them "mediocre."

And if we lose 34-38 with Josh not being able to give us like a 3rd lead in the 4th quarter, it'll be "well, they got the ball in Josh's hands at the end of the game, what more can you ask for? The defense being terrible for 7 straight postseasons is irrelevant". 

 

It's just hard to understand how all this has become normalized here.

I really wish Tre did not get hurt for so many reasons.  But come on, our season never hinged on him being CB2 or CB3.  If anyone thinks that they are delusional.
