Thats not exactly what he said. He said that initially but with a follow up of he expects everyone to practice. He didn't know if he would practice today but hoped so. Also said that he has been part of all meetings and walkthroughs.

Any expectation on McDermott's part was based on his own mind set rather than any behind the scenes turn of events.

Honestly, at this point, I'd rather roster Shavers than Samuel. Samuel just cannot seem to stay healthy.

That said, I haven't heard a peep about Elijah Moore since his injury, and I can't help but wonder if he's not the roster lock people seem to think he is.

Coleman
Palmer
Shakir
Shavers

Samuel
Moore

Would seem to be the six, if they keep six.

In any case, McDermott's comment about Shavers sure doesn't make it seem like he's a player they're about to cut. You can only sneak a guy like him onto the practice squad so many times before he gets scooped off waivers.

I'm with you. I don't hate Samuel and if the coaches want to give him another year it's fine. We would get next to nothing on cap space for the year for cutting him and I can't imagine anyone trading for him unless we are giving up picks to cash dump.

But at this point the roster spot seems too valuable

The best news all camp has been Milano.  He's dominant when healthy.

This is the key word when it comes to Milano. Hopefully he stays that way.

I understand the health concerns, but Samuel had big tds in both playoff games last year.

Understood.

My feelings come from the sense that the Spector release was almost punitive… As if they lost patience with his injuries.

I hope you're right!

Unrelated - I am worried about Bishop.

his a young kid he sure hasn't proved he able to hold up as of yet, adding some muscle mass sure would help IMHO

So what will happen on Saturday if Bass continues to sit out and not kick? Do we even have anyone that can do kickoffs? Can Robbins? I can't really believe Davis will end up doing all of the kicking...

Sean McDermott said that they will need to get a kicker in on today’s briefing.

I think Beane needs to get another WR in here and I fear Cole Bishop is now "Mr. Glass", The kid just can't stay healthy.

I think Beane needs to stop f-ing around and draft Josh a freaking good WR. Same for backup QB. It’s cheaper that way.

🤷🏻‍♂️ no clue, but he’s a gunner on ST and a known process guy.

What does a "process" guy actually mean with the way you are using the term?

I want WR's who can get open against NFL DB's, have good hands, and are not constantly nicked up.  If he can play special teams, that's a nice bonus.

Would Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase be good "process guys"?

I am trying to figure out what to make of Shavers - coaches really seem impressed, but I have also seen this story before when we had Hodgins here who would have strong camps but when it came to cut down time was always the odd man out.  And that was without the stiff competition of guys like Samuel and Moore.

I am highly doubtful we keep 6 WR's unless one is either a returner or ST ACE they feel like they must keep.  We are going to likely be keeping more than in past seasons at places like DL and CB this year, making it that much harder to keep 6 at WR.

So if Shavers makes this roster I think its more likely at the expense of one of Moore or Samuel.  And both their roster spots are less secure now than they seemed to be earlier in the offseason thanks to injuries.

The battle between Samuel, Moore, and Shavers will be very interesting to watch the rest of camp and preseason as I think only 2 of them make the team.  Wouldn't surprise me to see Samuel traded either if they want to keep Shavers.

Agreed.  We have better NFL talent in the secondary, and DL, versus keeping 6 WRs right now.

We will find a way to have 1-2 fringe WR5 types on the P/S and promote weekly as needed.

Re: Samuel, his contract all but requires us to keep him this year - highly doubt anyone is taking that deal on.  If healthy, he can be good-  key is just keeping him healthy for 12+ games.

Alleviating that a bit for me is the fact that the Bills have improving depth at all those spots.  Hairston should be healthy at the start of the season and Stong is coming on in camp.  Dorian Willliams is another year older and smarter.  Buffalo still has Epenesa, Solomon is showing development and the Bills added Landon Jackson in the draft.  Then, of course, after 6 weeks of the season the Bills will have Hoecht available.

Has Hoecht been practicing with team despite being suspended?

It doesn’t really matter what YOU want.  Tell McD, maybe it’ll help sway him.

McDermott just said he’s “tough as nails” and called him a “true Buffalo Bill”.  I’m using the word process in the way we’ve been using since McD got here.  If you don’t know what a process guy is by now, 🤷🏻‍♂️

Perhaps they talk him up publicly in an effort to keep him happy on the PS. As long as he thinks he has a chance to earn a spot/get called up, he is more likely to stick around as insurance vs. looking for work on another team.

You don't need to convince guys on the roster that they should stay or that they are valued....

Bulldog dealing with the drunk callers today without Mike is healing my soul. Pure comedy

“The bills are the 2003 Carolina panthers when McDermott and beane were there together but they had a 10x better QB in cam newton” also McDermott is buck showalter

Where do we begin
