Just watched it.

Anyone not smiling throughout that episode isn't a Bi)s fan.

You nailed it. While watching, I caught myself with a dopey grin several times. I'm lovin' it.

HBO Max has always streamed episodes of all series AFTER the original airs on HBO.

Max has never streamed first showings of any series' episodes at the same time as HBO.

Once the episode is complete on HBO it is uploaded to Max.

I watched on the MAX app at the same time it aired, 9PM EST which was 6PM PST for me.

I saw my wife on hard knocks. Anyone else see any cameo appearances?

I referenced it earlier but saw the son of a guy I grew up with. He was AJE's barber, I know he's cut JA17's hair too.

A little boring, but we all enjoyed it as a family of Bills fans.

And I really can't recommend the HBO original programming enough.  All of the shows people have listed are great. I'd like to throw in Carnivale as well, which was sadly canceled just as it was really gaining steam.

The worst early cancellation in the history of cancellations in my opinion.

I feel like that was Josh having fun and doing a bit for the cameras - that he had it planned beforehand as an inside joke

It was a direct shot across the bow at Burrow based on the Netflix Quarterback series.

Next episode I expect Josh to take the OL to the Strong Museum after practice and go through the different types of fossils and then an astronomy lesson at the planetarium.

I am just kidding, but it's what I thought of! It makes sense if you watched Burrow on Quarterback on Netflix. Always yapping about dinosaurs and fossils and other random science stuff.

Now that I'm saying all that I wouldn't be shocked if it was some kind of inside joke based on Burrow in the Netflix show. Sort of like a friendly jab that the players would get but most would miss.

I’ve never been one for reality TV, and I’m afraid this may be a gateway show. Will I end up watching Naked and Afraid next? It’s just not worth the risk….

Lot of great content on HBO Max....

Thanks for the detailed reply. I appreciate it. I actually bookmarked for reference.

I once had Paramount+ and have to say HBO looks better.

Look at all the positivity in this thread... after YEARS of hand wringing and people bashing the idea like it would be some huge distraction and detrimental to the team.

If I had to choose one it would be HBO, but I will say Paramount+ has a lot of great original content too these days.

I can’t wait to go read the original thread when this was announced and everyone was saying it was going to be embarrassing and that the main story was going to be how bad the WRs are lmao

Wait I don't get it. Everyone was watching on HBO Max correct?  I have HBO Max and couldn't watch it. I'm just trying to figure out why. The only thing I could think is because I got the basic HBO Max 9.99 package ( which was advertised as what I'd need). When I went to watch it I said "live" and printed me to upgrade. I found it later once it was able to stream. It was a headache but at least I got to watch it. Just wish they were upfront about watching it live.

It's on HBO live, like ol fashioned TV, at 9pm. It doesnt come out on streaming (MAX) until after it airs. Either at like 10pm tonight, or tomorrow. I forget which.

They get the entire 2nd episode

Not true.  I watched it on streaming via HBO Max at 8PM CST.

EDIT: Looks like this is true of lower tiers of HBO Max.  I didn't know it was tiered.

Watched last night. Obviously enjoyed the watch because it’s the Bills and seeing how they interact but it wasn’t anything out of the box that provided unexpected insight. Usually the training camp Hard Knocks is the weakest. Love me some offseason Hard Knockd though. I think Beane would be awesome in that setting but the Bills like to keep things in house and close to the vest

Kind of a weak first episode. But it's only one. I expect it to get better once they get further into it

I kinda thought that too. But, like all shows, the first episode normally just develops the characters. Perhaps there'll be one of those 'mic-drop / cut-to-commercial' type scenes in episode 2.

One thing notable to me was, how Josh refers to his receivers by their number and not name. For such a player/team type of guy, it seemed odd at first. But I really like it. It makes it more like business and not personal. And not the Cook version of business, the 'I'm at work conducting business' thing.

there are definitely cameras in the meeting rooms. I’m sure we will see footage from meetings in future episodes. This was a pretty standard first episode of hard knocks.

They are at training camp, so I’m not sure about locker room footage but they usually have cameras in there too.

The access HBO is given is the same for every team. Buffalo isn’t preventing anything.

I'm just really hoping we make it through the season without hearing Beane and McD talking players PFF scores and total fantasy points. Unlike their proteges Shoen and Daboll.

My daughter used to work at Pittsford Farms Dairy - the ice cream place featured.  Players have loved that place for years.
