I've been here a VERY long time. My first connections were with a dial-up 9600 baud modem in Summer of 1996. My previous user names were lost when SDS upgraded the forum software.

There were (are) some real characters back in the early days. I remember some trolls named Combo, Ice, and maybe a HogBoy. They have thankfully disappeared. Of course, who can forget the infamous Belinda.

TBone and NJSue provided us some hilarious donnybrooks in posts back in those days. I don't miss the endless RJ/Flutie debates. It make me feel reeeeal old!

Like the old saying "you aint rubbin, you aint racin", if you arent earning some warning points over a decade, then you arent really posting here.

If that’s the case, I’m on pace to have been posting for 400 years by Christmas.

Wasn't there someone named "I eat crayonz" that used to rile people up back in the day??

Why not FireChan2.0?  The upgraded version.

I thought Chans was an odd choice at first, but used to it now

Just once, ONCE, it would be refreshing to see an insincere thank you thread. One dripping with sarcasm and spite. Is that too much to ask?

I nominate @muppy!!

Disagreed The original BBMB was awesome. There were so many weird characters on there. Some were absolutely nuts, but that’s what gave it charm. Reminds me of the internet in its Wild West days before everything got washed down & sanitized. Even Chris Brown posted there. The community felt a lot closer and there a lot of fun contests. People lived & died w/ their player predictions.

It was hit and miss but I agree there were some extraordinary posters.

My favorite was McAddict.

I was a fan of the original BBMB, too. But with mostly all the same posters here (save a handful after the great split of 2020... oh how I miss you @Foxx) it was an easy transition.

A thanks to everyone for welcoming us in.

What year did BBMB close anyway? Gotta be over a decade at this point

I can't remember when I started following this boaerd regularly, but I know it has been > 25 years, as I remember being at my office on 9/11, with most of my colleagues out of the office, and somehow chose this board to follow that day, as fellow Bills fans seemed a safe haven on such a disconcerting day.  (If my profile does not reflect that, at some point I changed emails and started from scratch.) In any case, yes, I do appreciate this community, and have gotten a 3rd generation hooked on the Bills, as the pic of my grandson shows.

Your post made me curious, so I looked at my profile and apparently I joined this site a mere six days before 9/11.

Unless I changed emails from an earlier one. Don't remember where I was during the mid-90's.

I used to hang out on a USENET buffalo bills fan group, before there was a WWW

There's actually a bunch of us who joined on that exact date (or used to be; many have moved on).

I think it was the first day that SDS had completed all his prep and made the new site available.

I could be wrong but I think that SDS is the only person that actually has a join date prior to September 5, 2001 and he's only a few days earlier.

We be OGs, homey. :flirt:

That place was an all day event and alot of fun. It was like a borderline obsession for those drought years lol when it went away i genuinely felt lost. I was happy to remember a mention or two of this place on there and luckily got in quick. This place has been awesome. For a long time I still felt real new here but now it’s been a bit. Thank god this place was there for us refugees and welcomed us like their own. Very rarely has there ever been an issue here. Very laid back, mature and informative atmosphere. It’s a truly great message board. Outside of 1 or 2 minor disagreements on semantics with a mod, this has been home. Great job to everyone involved and can’t wait for us to all see the first Super Bowl championship together. Go bills
