He didn't play well. Missed a bunch of passes to wide open WRs. Any hint of pressure in the pocket and he completely wilted. And he wasn't much better in the NFCCG against the Lions that year either. He's a perfect bridge QB that they're now paying like one of the elites. 2 1 2 Quote
appoo Posted Friday at 09:41 PM Posted Friday at 09:41 PM I’ve watched him plenty, I know people might disagree - but other than than raw arm strength he’s either great or borderline great at everything else 1 Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted Friday at 09:49 PM Posted Friday at 09:49 PM With all the offseason losses and now this crap contract,SF will be worthless for awhile. 1 Quote

(although I do think Shanny helps a ton with that) Cons: Poor arm strength, can't throw in inclement weather, poor decision making at times At best I think he is an average QB- JMO Edited Friday at 09:52 PM by BillsFan130 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted Friday at 09:55 PM Posted Friday at 09:55 PM 49ers were in a tough spot. He might be great but he might not. I would have franchised him twice like the Commanders did with Cousins. I'm not sold he is the long term answer. It may have been cap prohibitive for them to tag him though. Difficult decision Quote
machine gun kelly Posted Friday at 10:22 PM Posted Friday at 10:22 PM I’m happy for him and his family, but with the losses in talent, it’s going to be tough for them to win as much. 1 1 Quote

transient Posted Friday at 10:56 PM Posted Friday at 10:56 PM SF better hope CMC’s healthy or they’ll need him to actually play like a $53M QB. Quote

Lionel Hutz Posted Friday at 11:05 PM Posted Friday at 11:05 PM SF would probably be better off with Darnold on his 3-year $100m contract. 1 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted Friday at 11:09 PM Posted Friday at 11:09 PM I really thought the better idea for the 49ers would have been to trade him or let him walk and draft a guy like Quinn Ewers. If any system is set to draft a guy late and rinse repeat to save the dough it's that one. Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted Friday at 11:14 PM Posted Friday at 11:14 PM At $55M/year, we're stealing Josh Allen. 2 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted Friday at 11:18 PM Posted Friday at 11:18 PM I’d rather have Justin Fields than Brock Purdy or Tua or Goff. Quote

Purdy is the definition of QB purgatory. Just good enough to be fearful of letting him go, but not good enough to win it all. He was the QB of a team of superstars in their prime with elite offensive coaching and his play in the Super Bowl directly cost that team their chance at glory. And with his new salary they'll never be able to build that caliber of team around him again. I think Kyle Shanahan could someday go the Andy Reid route of getting fired after 10+ years of disappointing playoff exits, going to a new team where he finds his elite QB, then start racking up championships. They should have gone after Lamar two years ago. He would have been unstoppable in that offense. Quote

Are you talking relative to contract? Like you would rather Fields at 20 million compared to those guys in the 50s? Or just straight up you think fields is better than them? Quote

That team probably wins a Super Bowl in Brock’s first year and almost knocked the chiefs off with Brock playing well in a Super Bowl. the goal is the Super Bowl and we know for a fact that Brock can help get you there. cant say that about Lawrence or Tua Purdy is not that great. He's a middling QB that is another product of the Shanahan system. Quote
