Wasn't he just OWNING his former college teammate, Mike Hughes?

Yeah  Bills fans lament the injuries the Bills have had in Chiefs games but the Bills have still lost some playoff games where the opponent had areas that were decimated by injury.   Secondary for the Chiefs in that game was one of them.   That was maybe the only time they've really been able to take advantage of such a weakness in one of their playoff defeats.

Yea the Chiefs lost Mathieu in the game too didn't they? They were definitely hurting on the back end.

Yes he took a knee to the head from Allen on the Bills first offensive series.   They were in disarray in the secondary the rest of the game.

Gotta admit how cool that reads. Impact S concussed by a monster QB who then goes on to have a legendary game.

Hey.  That game got Gabe paid $2.1m per catch playing for the Jaguars.

Don't want him. He's boom or bust.  We have more than enough boom. What we don't need is bust.

Our WRs even if they lack blue chip pedigree, all have very high floors.

Davis also lacks high end pedigree but also has a very low floor.  Guy was never on the same page as Josh.

He is literally subtraction by addition!

With all the injuries, wonder if they gave him a call. What’s the best offer he’s turned down? Veteran minimum?  He’s trending toward practice squad stashable.

Talk is the 9ers or Giants. Both could use him I guess. Would bet the vet minimum, yes.

I'm not in favor of the Bills signing him.  There is no reason to think he is better than the Bills' 3rd or 4th receivers.  5th and 6th receivers need to be significant special teams contributors.  Otherwise, you're holding a roster spot for a bench warmer.  I don't see that happening with Davis.

Nothing is long term on any of the WR's. Which is why they signed Deon Cain and tried out Justyn Ross. They just need some bodies to get through a little bit of time in Training Camp, so they aren't overworking the WR's they have. Gabe Davis isn't someone you bring in for that and he wouldn't sign on for that role.

It's a bit sad to see his trajectory since the 4TD / 201 yd KC game...I really thought he would become a legit WR2 for the Bills

Same here. Maaaan he simply wasn't a worker. And someone here did mention that the NFL didn't figure out Gabe yet. Once they did, yeah, it was over.

All reports say otherwise on his work ethic, so I don’t know where you get that.

My God, I think Mel Kiper wrote this.  Is that really you, Mel?

Pedigree (n.)

A fancy word deployed in conversation to imply deep lineage, expertise, or credibility. Typically used right before they say something wildly incorrect or name-drop their cousin’s roommate’s dog breeder.

I think they are unlikely to win Best In Show, or at least that’s what I’m taking out of this.

I think I’d be tempted to bring him back.

Samuel refuses to show that he can stay healthy.

As it stands, Palmer is the only pure outside WR.   Coleman will play primarily out there, but ideally you’d like to be able to utilize him as a power slot as well.  Shakir is mainly a pure slot.  Moore can play inside/outside.

Gabe would slide in as another pure outside guy.  Question is, would Gabe want to come here and be on the depth chart behind Palmer, Shakir and Coleman, fighting with Moore for snaps.

And also, I’m pretty sure this staff wants Samuel to be a thing through hell or high water.

Isn’t he still kind of injured? I kind of wonder if he’ll be an in-season add for a team that wants to add a vet WR due to injuries on the roster or bubble guys not panning out.

I think for his sake him being "on retainer" for a mid October signing is probably what's best for him at this point. Gives him 6-8 weeks to heal up and get himself 100% right and then he can ramp up his conditioning in late September early October and then do a few extra weeks on a PS before being active if needed later in November? It wouldn't be the worst "Plan C" to have if the team gets hit with injuries and needs some depth. What's likely hurting Gabe is that his not only injured but also he doesn't play special teams which is what teams want from their last 1-2 WR spots.
