ColoradoBills Posted April 26 Posted April 26 He will on occasion line up next to Spencer Brown and then they run right. Alex Anderson will soon be the LG (maybe C) and they will need that good blocking TE. 5 Quote

gonzo1105 Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I will not accept Jackson Hawes slander. Haven’t even read a post on here about him and I already know what’s being talked about. Good tough ball player 3 1 Quote
Bag of Milk Posted April 26 Posted April 26 After the draft I spend the evening looking at clips of all the players the Bills drafted. I ask anyone wondering about the Hawes pick to put his name in the search box on YouTube and enjoy the clips! He is an incredibly gifted run blocker and has no trouble taking on DL, LB's and DB's. I know enough about Bills fans in my years following the team to realize that we love physical, tenacious players. He's going to end up being a fan favorite! Great pick! 2 1 Quote

GASabresIUFan Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I like the pick. I had mocked to the Bills about 50 times. He is Knox 2.0 1 Quote

jkeerie Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I'm thinking is it possible Hawes could replace both Davidson and Gilliam on the roster as a TE with great blocking ability who can also play special teams? With all the D linemen and secondary adds, it would sure help. 1 Quote

That's mostly because I never mocked a TE to the Bills till the 6th or 7th Rd. And I knew the Bills are looking for a 3rd TE that can block... And that is Hawes game... It's pretty much all he does, but he does it really, really well... Hawes is and older prospect and will turn 25 in December... He's a very average athlete overall with good explosive numbers and average speed. He's a 7.23 RAS overall... Blocking... That's it... Blocking and more blocking... Isn't Hawes nearly a QUARTILE better than "very average" wrt athleticism? Edit: @White Linen can't cite a 7.23 RAS and then claim "very average" athleticism. That's not how statistics works. Hawes scored 23% above avg (for as long as they've been reliably tracking these numbers) for pre-draft TEs. Very average is a 5.00 RAS (which I know is also essentially the median as well--but could apply to more than one of the 1200+ TE prospects over the years). Prospector Posted April 27 Posted April 27 I was wondering why… then I saw this guy’s videos and heard him talk… he is a mercenary that wants nothing more than to beat the s*** out of people and loves to be combative… this is a cold game guy that will make us all happy Quote
NewEra Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Haven’t watched any highlights- just listened to his interview from today. I love this guy. Dude just wants to smack people. And has an economics degree from Yale. I still have some hope for Davidson, but I’m really rooting for Hawes. Edit: watched a little tape. He’s our version of Alan Ricard…. Just a lot smaller. He’s not just a good blocking TE. He’s an extremely good blocker. Maybe he can play the Mack Hollins role on some of those screens 🤣 I’d bet he’ll be in the league for 5+ years as a designated blocker. Edited April 27 by NewEra 1 Quote

The issue isn't your breakdown of RAS but rather it's validity and it's flawed predictability of NFL success. Admittedly, I haven't thoroughly investigated RAS, but I would use Hawes as an example. He's not athletic, yet grades much higher than average. 1 Quote
