I know a kid who won a state wrestling championship on a torn ACL.

every case is different

Tommy Doyle played the 4th quarter against the Fins on a torn ACL bc we were out of lineman.

Tom Brady walked off with a torn ACL… which was actually badass. And I hate him.

I've played a sport for the last 20 years where ACL/MCL tears are a (relatively speaking) common injury. I've never seen someone stand up of their own power and walk off the field after tearing one. I've never seen someone tear one and not be screaming/crying in agony either.

I'm not a trained medical professional in any capacity though, but I'm going to guess this is a sprain and he'll miss almost all of the rest of camp.

It happens plenty. I remember Tom Brady got up after his and hobbled off. He had trainers, but they weren’t holding him up or anything.

Tommy Doyle went back in and played in the game vs the Dolphins where he tore his. Just depends.

NFL players aren’t built like regular people. Their pain thresholds are off the charts. Most of us here would feel like we should be put in traction after just one play in an actual NFL game. I know I would.

Tell me about it. Played a soft tackle game with the young kids in the extended family before Thanksgiving dinner.  I may have played 45 minutes. I was sore for a week lol.

“I was upset,” cornerback Christian Benford said. “That’s somebody who’s a pure-hearted kid. That’s someone you work with off the field so much and you put so much time in with them and then they fall like that. . . . I’m sick about that.”

Well that doesn't sound good.

If long term, I'd be surprised if Rasul Douglas isn't brought back.

He wouldn't be my choice as I've been pretty vocal that I think he's toast. But this regime will always go for familiarity in McDermott's scheme over quality of player.

I hope White has a resurgence with us and can stay healthy. But relying on that is a dangerous proposition imo. So I think someone else stronger than a 6th Round Rookie, Dane Jackson, and Ja'Marcus Ingram would need to be brought in.

I certainly hope Rasul Douglas is not on their call list. They planned for depth at this position and I would say that the current Bills depth at CB would put Douglass firmly on the outside.  He was awful last year, and moving on was and still is the right answer even if they lose Maxwell for a period of time.

Not good last year, but not the worst. And this might be a “beggars can’t be choosers” moment.

But if something happens to White (which given his history here over his last couple years isn't a crazy thought), White isn't cutting it, or Benford goes down - are you (or more importantly, them) comfortable with Dorian Strong, Dane Jackson, or Ja'Marcus Ingram starting?

One of those guys being on the bottom of the roster with Benford, Hairston, and White in front of them was fine. But if we're only one step from starting that person instead of two - I think we need to get someone else in here.

I'd definitely prefer someone besides Douglas. But realistically knowing how this regime values familiarity in scheme over all else, if someone's coming in to take Hairston's place on the roster - it's going to be Douglas.
