Is there any history on reason for Diggs release that is reasonably factual? No they did not release a memo on letter head that said diggs is actively trying to force his way out by being a pain in the butt to everyone similar to what we watched unfold in minnesota but I’d think you kind of recognized it happening Quote

BillsPride12 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago There was supposedly a rift behind the scenes with Diggs and Allen(possibly McDermott as well) I don't blame Beane one bit for trading Diggs...the problem is completely neglecting replacing him with a legitimate #1 receiver since he's been gone 3 5 1 4 Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Because he lost a step, still is an excellent wr , and clashed with McDermott over a philosophical shift on offense He's also weird and undermined Allen on social media 1 2 Quote
ScottishBills Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) They realised the juice was no longer worth the squeeze Part of that was him getting older, and maybe a bigger part was Brady being unable to scheme a passing game centred around a WR1 - he saw the future and upped his dickishness - we thought we saw an elite offence that didn't involve a highly paid WR1 - something some people here still believe in it seems Thankfully we fixed this by concentrating on having 5 or 6 WR4 types and dont have to worry about how to use a WR1 Watching Redzone and seeing multiple different outside receivers so easily ***** the ball out the sky to continue a drive and be in scoring position has become a bittersweet watch - as we wait for Cook to rip a big one or Josh to scramble around on 4th down and fire a laser beam. I can understand all the people who believe it is both working and sustainable all the way to a Superbowl. I certainly don't agree. If Kincaid was an iron man, maybe you could get through with it, but he's not back on topic - Diggs was and is a dick. We had enough of it. Edited 16 hours ago by ScottishBills 2 1 Quote
Steptide Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago He had some kind of issue with the team, whether McDermott or Allen, who knows. But you don't trade a guy and take on a 35 million dollar cap hit for schematic differences. There's more to the story that I'm not sure we'll ever know 1 4 Quote

Thank you. I wish it wasn’t the case and still would love having him, or rather a number 1, here. However, it was the case. It was the problem…and it unfolded the way it should. davefan66 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Because he didn’t want to be here. The organization was tired of his garbage and his brothers stupid tweets. Specifically, he wanted out. 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago He forced his way out. he left the team with a cap issue and a hole in the roster. he should be hated in Buffalo. 2 2 Quote
YoloinOhio Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago There is a poster who has some behind the scenes info so if he wants to post it here or PM you he can but I don’t want to put it out there bc it was told in confidence. Anyway he wasn’t cut and we got a 2nd rd pick for him. 2 Quote

oldmanfan Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Josh was done with his nonsense. No way Beane takes that kind of cap hit without Josh on board. 1 Quote

Agree, it was necessary for Josh's mental health and leadership of this team. Diggs has a pattern, he starts as the great teammate and then over times wears out his welcome. He was a godsend his first couple of years, as he was in Minnesota. He is still in his honeymoon period with the Pats-- that Diggs is awesome. But then... And notwithstanding all the issues with the WR room, the offense has been prolific without him by any objective standard. Would it be more prolific with the good Diggs-- almost certainly. But for Buffalo that ship has long sailed. 2 Quote
Low Positive Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I’m not a ‘fire McDermott” guy, but I blame him for this. Perhaps the most important part of an NFL Head Coach’s job is managing the egos in the locker room. He lets this one get out of hand, and by the time he tried to reel it in it was too late. I’m not a Vrabel fluffer like so may here, but one thing going for him is his giant personality that sucks all the oxygen out of the room. As an aside, McDermott should be let go now. Not because he’s bad, but because this team needs a new voice in the worst way. 1 3 2 2 Quote

Is there any history on reason for Diggs release that is reasonably factual? I believe Diggs was let because McDermott wanted the team to become a running team and Beane just could not afford the luxury and cap space of having Diggs on the team when your focused on running the ball . His final year they ran limited plays for him in the second half of the year so they could get his numbers down & then justify trading him in the offseason. Beanne and McDermott wanted cap space and resources for defensive side of the football despite still sucking bad year after year. Last season we became a run run first offence and Beane convinced himself the receiver room was just fine because we scored 30 points a game for 8 straight games, leaving out the defences we were playing at the time were bad and all the turnovers we were getting that you cannot always rely on. As we can now see, Diggs can still play and was never replaced as Beane promised both the media and fans the day he traded him 2 Quote
