The biggest thing I see in that video is he plays with leverage and keeps gap integrity, which is something the Bills DL seems to struggle with. And I know its fun to poke fun about the motor and lunch pail and stuff, but the dude seems to be relentless in his pursuit. I don’t know if he even makes the team, but there are certainly traits there.

I can't read it (must be something on the page my browser doesn't like)

I like what I found on Wiki better

Washington Football Team / Commanders[edit]

On October 14, 2020, Toohill was claimed off waivers by the Washington Football Team.[6]

In Week 6 of the 2021 season, Toohill recorded his first career sack on Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.[7] He had his first career start in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers in place of Chase Young, who was placed on the team's injured reserve. On December 11, 2021, he was placed on COVID-19 reserve list; Toohill was forced to sit out the Week 14 game against the Dallas Cowboys, but reactivated a week later.[8]

In Week 10 of the 2022 season, Toohill scored his first career touchdown in a victory over the then-undefeated Eagles; he recovered the ball in a failed lateral pass from Eagles' receiver DeVonta Smith and returned it 1 yard to the end zone in the final play of the game.[9]

In the 2023 season, Toohill was elevated in the defense's starting lineup before Week 9; following Week 8, the Commanders had traded both of their original starting defensive ends, Chase Young and Montez Sweat.[10]

6'5", 250 lb, 4.62 s 40-time.    39" vertical.

Started 8 games last season, had 5 sacks 7 QB hits, a PD, and 26 tackles (17 solo), in 45% of the defensive snaps.

NFL Draft Profile:

Quote

Toohill's a tricky projection based upon his issues stopping the run, but he has great flashes as a pass rusher. His body type may not be fully finished and additional play strength would be crucial considering his inability to anchor and shed against run blocks. His rush is much less effective against stronger tackles, but he's a decent athlete and hints at rush skill that has room for development. He's currently caught between a 3-4 OLB and 4-3 DE. If he can become bigger, stronger and more polished as a rusher, he might make sense as a backup edge with sub-package talent as a wide-9 technique.

"I put a projection grade on him because he's athletic and long and should grow into his frame even more. I think he's way better in two years." -- West Coast scout for NFC team

Assuming he signed for cheap, sounds like a guy who could have some potential to develop, at least as depth.

What I like about this, is per his draft scouting report coming out, he showed some promise as a pass rusher but was weak against the run.

Seems to me there is some good run defense in there.

Thanks for posting this. Based on the video he looks like Trent Murphy and probably at a fraction of the cost.

Actually he is super athletic!

Yes he is. His vertical and broad jump in particular. Those traits are usually associated with "explosiveness."

He actually has some athleticism.  His 4.62 40 time is faster than a lot of guys who will be drafted in the first couple rounds of the draft.  His 39 inch vertical is even better compared with prospects at DE.  The question is whether or not good coaching can help him address the shortcomings in his game, especially in run defense.  In any case, he'll be a fringe player at best, getting reps only if guys ahead of him are injured.

This is probably our 5th DE once the smoke clears on the offseason.

Good signing.

He can’t be worse than von

*ducks*

Giving Von the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't fully recovered and he can come back to an elite edge this year.

I feel Beane thinks he will

With our luck he'll be next January's AJ Klein when everyone else is injured.
