I totally agree with this. I've been feeling like this has been planned as a stadium-on-a-budget from the beginning. Especially with the early sentiment seemingly being so dismissive of even debating having a roof or a dome. And, with the patronizing "A roofless stadium represents Buffalo" bravado or whatever heartstrings they were trying to pull. In pro-wrestling terms, "a cheap pop". It honestly gives me an unsettling feeling about the future of the team in the area.

Another benefit to having a dome that people may hastily discount is its attractiveness to free agents. With Poyer's recent comments, I think more people should realize that the Bills should do whatever they can to make Buffalo as attractive a destination as possible. As time goes on, and potentially more and more teams get domed stadiums, free agents and potential draft picks will have even less reason to be excited to be a Bill. Yeah, you cant change the weather, and good luck changing those taxes, but the workplace conditions are one thing they could've improved. It would increase comfort and player performance.

I'm not a local, so I'm not trying to "spend other peoples' money" or anything, but it seems like somebody is holding back on making the new stadium something "special" (even with just the money they've already budgeted for). They're just trying to make it "good enough". Needless to say, I'm disappointed.

For the older generation this stadium works just fine. The problem is if they want to get the 40 and under generation to go to games you need it to be on the level of those stadiums.  It's already a hard sell for fans in December and January games. The Bengals game should never had that many Bengals fans in attendance.

You have it completely backwards. It's the over 40 crowd that can't deal with freezing at games, or want to spend Sunday mornings drinking themselves into a stupor.

I honselty think we have to wait on more details within the stadium. One thing that was noted, is that the game experience in the stadium is going to be much better. Radiant heating, like the club seats have will also be throughout the stadiums. I don't really care how it looks from the outside (although I dont think it looks terrible). IMO, it is all about the experience inside.

I don't think that's the plan at all. Look at the pictures. The red glow of the "fry lamps" are only in the club seats

Exactly. Where can you install radiant heat if there is nothing above you?

Yes they are just fine but they were also built well before these new wave of stadiums.  Personally I would rather they built something similar to what Nashville is building. Winning only takes you so far.

December and January games have been a hard sell even when they are winning. Since a dome isn't happening then hopefully the amenities are majorly updated. I'm talking having all the micro breweries having a vendor in the stadium, a bar/ restaurant in one of the corners over looking the field. I would love if they took a page from Progressive field and have an area for kids and families to hangout.

US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis is the perfect stadium IMO. Glass roof lets light in, massive walls open to allow the breeze in. And it cost $1.2B even though it was built in downtown Minneapolis! There are no land acquisition costs with our stadium but it's going to cost $1.4B??? For open air???

Yeah i don't get it.   WNY is screaming for the Vikes stadium design.  Whatever.   I was happy with continuing to fix up the ralph.   for $1.5B+, Half the home games will still be freezing cold at night, especially playoff games.   Crazy.

Who knows what people are doing on this anymore.   Why bother with a new stadium if it is still exposed to truly sh-tty weather for half the season.

It’s of course just personal opinion but here are a few of the newest NFL stadiums:

And then here is the Bills new stadium:

It looks generic. Boring. Unappealing. Nothing screams “Buffalo” to me. There are no unique features that stand out and make people instantly say “oh that’s the Bills stadium”. Looking from the outside I can’t tell if it’s an airport, a soccer stadium, or a place to watch football.

And it looks like it’s old already. More like an early 2000’s stadium. If you were visiting a city you’ve never been and they told you this stadium was built in 2002, would you even question it? Probably not. It looks like a generic 2002 stadium. Like someone out of Madden build-a-stadium.

In fact it kinda-sorta looks like a more shapely Metlife stadium, which was built a decade and a half ago and is universally panned by Jets & Giants fans.

With taxpayers contributing nearly $1B, I am bothered by getting a generic, boring, unappealing stadium.

I was with you until the part about taxpayers kicking in $1B............$800K of that is diverted from casino tax that was won in court.    Not that rich casino owners aren't taxpayers but the taxpayers you mean already spent that money on entertainment.

It's going to be a pile of rocks like the original one.

Still for what they spent on it, it should be a lot more impressive. It's very generic but I guess that's to be expected when all fans want is the Bills to stay.

yes.  that was 100% the most important thing.  the renderings look meh, but at the end of the day, does it really effect your life?

Not sure where you saw $800M. It’s actually about half of that. The rest is paid by taxpayers and really it’s all paid by taxpayers because the $400m of casino money was going to go toward other state programs which are now being funded by taxpayers instead. Either way, taxpayers are footing the entirety of the nearly $1B. It’s really just a marketing ploy to make it seem like less.

Overhead heating. Some parts of the stadium – including certain club- and suite-seating areas – will have radiant overhead heating. The stacked design of the stadium’s levels will also serve to retain more of that heat and, combined with the reduction in wind and overhead coverage, keep the facility warmer.

The architects are also working on adding radiant heat “at some of the really cool designated hospitality bar areas on the concourses, in the end zones, at the 50-yard lines,” Radecic said, adding that the stadium will be designed for additional radiant heating units to be added in the future. “Over time, we can always add more,” he said.

What does it cost to heat the outdoors?

Although the renderings don’t show it, there will be extensive radiant heat inside the stadium to help keep fans warm during cold-weather games.

I've never heard of someone wanting to build their house with no roof and then wasting the massive amount of energy needed to heat it for it to just radiate right off into the sky.

The Bills are getting a new stadium. One that is going to be WAY better than what they have now….and fans are whining. LOL

Many Jets-Giants fans prefer Giants Stadium over MetLife. MetLife is viewed as a POS by both fanbases. So newer doesn't necessarily mean better. With raised ticket prices and PSL fees many fans will be missing the current stadium.

It’s just the VIP areas.
