To the Bills they are. Laugh all you want but the Bills have been great at drafting players in rounds 4-7.

Since either McDermott or Beane have been here the Bills have drafted:

Matt Milano- 5th round

Taron Johnson-4th round

Siran Neal- 5th round

Wyatt Teller- 5th round(mistake)

Jaquan Johnson- 6th round

Gabriel Davis 4th round

Tyler Bass- 6th round

Dane Jackson- 7th round

Damar Hamlin- 6th round

Khalil Shakir- 5th round

Christian Benford- 6th round

This doesn’t even include guys still in the league like Ray Ray McCloud or fringe guys like Tommy Sweeney, Tommy Doyle, or Daryl Johnson

Yeah I value those picks.   I think the relative success rate they've had late in the draft is a reflection of Beane not drafting as needily on day 3.    I think there is a tendency for teams to focus on the first round pick for months and then after the emotional conclusion of that quest get a little careless and needy on day 2.    It's almost a Bills tradition at this point,  regardless of GM.   Their 2nd round track record in particular is terrible in seasons where they also have a first round pick.

But they will have the opportunity to acquire more of those with trade backs for volume to fill pending roster vacancies.   I could also see them trading some players they know they won't be able to extend a season early in coming offseasons.   The way they do business will naturally have to change.

It will all come down to if he is willing to play for us the remainder of the year and collect a big paycheck next year for multiple years or if he wants that now. If another team is willing to offer multiyear contract and big money, I think you can take Buffalo out of that conversation immediately.

if he's smart he signs with us, contends and does a 2nd year option at a good rate. uses this offseason to further heal and rehab. then look for one last big paycheck after some good stats in buffalo .

OBJ is in ring chasing mode. Buffalo is the flavor of the moment. His buddy Von is here and putting on the full court press.  He probably hears great things about Allen, his gun, and getting the WRs the ball. He hears about the “Mafia” and all the fun we’re having here.  Assuming he can actually play at a high level again, i believe he will sign here, specifically for this playoff season.  Not sure of anything beyond that.

Gonna be a Cowboy. Book it! Might be in ring chasing mode, but I guarantee he's more into money chasing mode. They actually need another weapon on the outside (where we have Gabe) and have over 6 mil in cap space. Down vote me all you want but that is a pretty perfect spot for him honestly.

I can't argue your reasoning. If they are willing to give him big money, then this is a good bet. If he wants to give himself a better shot at winning a championship, then Buffalo is where he should go. If he helps the Bills win, then he could cash in on a big contract next year.

This.   I think Cover 1 broke down how a 2 year incentive laden deal would work, given most of those incentives could be pushed to be paid in ‘24.

Gives Odell some security and the ability to show what he can do over 1.25 seasons on a team with top notch facilities and injury management.

Then cash in on his one last mega payday.

Is OBJ even going to be ready to play meaningful snaps this year?  Seems like these ACL's are taking longer to come back from than I remembered.  I'm a UCLA guy and the school announced this week that two of our basketball players that tore ACL's over a full year ago are still not cleared to play.  If he somehow manages to get himself fully healed by say, mid-December, he's still got to pass the physical, get himself up to gamespeed (a few weeks), learn the playbook, etc.  So, you're looking at unveiling him in the playoffs?  I'm excited about the idea of OBJ in Buffalo, but I just don't think it's likely to happen, or if it does, that it pays any demonstrable dividends this season.

I think the hope is to sign him mid-November.  Get him some practices/time with the team.  Then get him out there in mid-December for the final four games to have him ready to go for the Playoffs.

They also do a great job of moving around by gathering extra picks when they can and then using those extra picks to move up and get guys in those rounds they target.

Yeah, unnamed league sources believe he won't be ready until mid-December, at the earliest.

Here's an excerpt that an initiative being led by kittle and Cooper kupp

Quote

Of the 32 teams in the NFL, 16 teams still play on artificial turf, despite the undeniable risk it poses to both players and the environment. It’s time to play smarter with Pennington.

The numbers don’t lie:

28% more non-contact lower body injuries.

32% more non-contact knee injuries.

And 69% more non-contact foot and ankle injuries occurred on turf.

Turf can get up to 60 degrees hotter than natural grass, increasing the rate at which toxic gases are released and ingested.

90% of NFL players believe artificial turf will shorten their careers."

Gives us the upper hand against Giants, Rams probably some others.

I've seen some rumbling over the years about it bit seems like this is really catching steam among the players
