As I said, I would view Hines as a marginal upgrade over what we already have. He can’t possibly cost much so I wouldn’t freak out if they acquired him and I’ll cheer for him. I don’t view him as much better than Duke though. 👍 I do appreciate the healthy back and forth on it, gives me hope for this message board.

The BIlls see Duke Johnson in practice every day and haven't seen fit to elevate him to the active roster. I think that's telling.

Yeah I'm going nuts waiting for something and that damn Montgomery tweet had me fooled..  Hines would be real nice but not my first choice for an upgrade.

Telling of what though? We don’t know if they’re actually chasing Hines.
And Duke definitely isn’t in comparison with CMC or Kamara.

The Bills salary cap situation is keeping us from making a lot of these deals. Not only are we tight this year, but we are even tighter next year. We are as of now -7.55 million against the 2023 salary cap and only 38 players counting towards that. That number will change but it still will have to be dealt with.

So as much as everyone fantasizes about trades at the deadline and I know some people believe the salary cap is "Just a Number" It still has to be dealt with and we do not have much wiggle room.

I doubt it would have anything to do with asking price and more just the Raiders not moving him.

RBs have very little value as is, especially a rental.

The asking prices for CMC and Kamara were both apparently too high for us though.

I think it’s only telling that they don’t want to cut moss.  There’s no roster spot for him

Kamara was never getting traded, and CMC never even went for a first.

Brandin Cooks not at practice today for Texans...trade incoming.

Most likely KC

Just not true.  Next years cap will be at MINIMUM 240 million and more likely around 250 million due to Amazon TV contract kicking in. Cap concerns next year will NOT be a reason they do nothing, especially with even bigger increases coming the next 3 or 4 years after that from the other TV contracts kicking in.

With what cap space?  Also, they let Hill walk to trade a boat load of picks for two WR’s at the deadline.. one of which is under contract for 20M next year?

I did not say its the lone reason but its a challenge and its is the reason we are not making some of the bigger delas that are going down

And we will still have to play cap gymnastics next yeare just the same

Plus if they ever decide on Sunday Ticket...also Beane signs and acquires pretty much anyone he wants. He just adjusts other contracts

Ugh......this type of stuff is why it is so frustrating to be a fan sometimes.  We aren't privy to the conversations that are going on and we don't know what is being discussed.  I'm sure there are some deals that have been talked about that we would be all for making if we knew the actual details that GMs won't make for whatever their reasoning is.  There are probably players and deals being discussed by us and every other team that we would think there would be no way that teams would move the player, but we could make a move on but don't.

I think we all see how good this team is and one or two big time players could put us over the top.  Personally, I would be all in at this point  Nothing would be off limits to get talent in here no matter what picks we are talking about.  We have a lot of core guys under contract already and while picks are valuable, if you use them on the right pieces to pick up, you won't miss one draft and it won't kill this team long term.  It's time to be aggressive and take our swing.  If it works out, nobody will care what we gave up.  If it doesn't, one year of losing out on draft picks isn't going to mortgage our future either.

That said, it is going to be frustrating to watch other teams around us working to get better and close the gap on us while we stand pat.  We haven't won anything yet, but we are the hunted right now.  I want to make the gap larger, not watch teams close in.  Now's the time to make the moves to give us a chance to put us over the top.  I just don't think Beane and company are going to be willing to give up the picks necessary to do it.

Trust that Beane IS most definitely working.  He’s just not going to overpay.

He didn’t go for a first because the niners didn’t have a first.  So they found another way to pay the premium

CMC went for a second, third, and fourth-round picks in the 2023, as well as a fifth-round pick in 2024.  Beane values his picks way too much to give that many up.

No one was giving a first, thats why he didn't go for a first.

If someone offered a first, SF wouldn't have got him on the deal they did.

Feels like free agency all over again....  all these big signings around the league.... uh oh Raiders got Chandler Jones!  What are Bills gonna do!?   BANG!   Von Miller.

Yeah, he is definitely working on a huge trade for someone, but... it takes 2 sides to agree... all we can do is hope.

Ugh come on Bills, trade some picks that might not even make the roster

They don't have any holes in their roster, unless Poyer is really injured.

And by giving up draft picks, they are making it more difficult to sign their star players to extensions.

Davis, Oliver and Edmunds all are players the Bills will want to retain long term and need deals in the next 12 months or so. To enable that you need to be able to replace guys like Poyer, Hyde,  Morse, etc with draft guys on cheap contracts

Bottom Line

As long as the Chiefs don't land Brian Burns then I don't really care what happens
